Overview
Description
The latest addition to Southlands Farm. The converted hay loft beautiful blends country comforts with contemporary style. A stylish retreat for two. A stone staircase leads up to this open plan space with high beams, wood burning stove and a light and airy feel inspired by a trip to the Ha Valley in Bhutan where every bedroom had a wood stove which had to be fed during the night. The Hay Loft however is super cosy anyway with all the mod cons you could ask for in a holiday retreat. Enjoy Northumberland’s famously clear and dark skies through the sky lights above your bed.Bedroom Details

Excellent!
By Heather from Cookham on 22-Jun-2025What a marvellous retreat from the world. The farmlands are magnificent and the Hayloft a beautiful little hideaway. Would definitely recommend.
Another brilliant stay!
By Chloë from Burton on 17-Jul-2025This was our fourth stay at Southlands farm cottages and every time it has been great. Dee and Charles are so friendly and helpful, and the cottages are always very clean and comfortable with everything you need for a few nights or a week. The area is perfect for exploring the region including Hadrian's Wall, countryside walks, going into Corbridge or Newcastle or to the coast. We love staying here and will come back again soon. Highly recommended.
Delightful digs for two in glorious Northumberland countryside
By Elizabeth from London on 03-Sep-2025Barely any distance down the road from Newcastle but worlds away. If you are looking for peace and quiet, fresh air, big skies and glorious countryside, the Hayloft is the ideal escape-from-it-all bolt hole. The only creatures you are likely to meet apart from your welcoming hosts are sheep. Lots of great walks from the door. A treat to return from a day’s exploring to warm, comfortable and stylish surroundings. And if you don’t feel like cooking, plenty of places to eat a short drive away.
The Hayloft in September
By Gillian from Warrington on 18-Sep-2025We had a lovely time staying at the Hayloft. It's just as cosy and welcoming as it looks on the photos - the bed was a little soft for us but everything was perfectly clean with quality bedding, towels and accommodation. Dee and Charles are very friendly and warm and hit just the right balance between being on hand for help or information and leaving you to allow you to enjoy your holiday in peace. The area is beautiful and there is lots to see and do. We visited Hexham and Corbridge which are both historic towns with lots of lovely bars, cafes and shops and, of course, friendly Northumbrians. We particularly enjoyed our "awayday" at Tyne Green Parkrun which we've recommended to our running club friends.
Family birthday celebration
By Sara from London on 20-May-2025We had the perfect stay at the Hayloft. It was spotless, extremely comfortable, and spacious. It is located in a beautiful village, populated by myriads of birds, with plenty of amazing walks right outside the door, and a short drive for the Cheviots and Hadrian's wall.
