Description
With 3 large bedrooms and lots of space, àilean sleeps up to 6 people in splendid comfort. On the ground floor, the main living area is open-plan and there is a king-size bedroom and large bathroom with a double-ended bath, separate shower, and infra-red sauna. Upstairs 2 large dedrooms (king-size and twin bedroom) both with en-suite shower rooms as well as a quiet sitting area should you want some tranquility or a place to read.
To the front of the house, big windows frame panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, North Harris hills, island of Taransay, and Chaipaval (Ceapabhal) with its distinctive stripe of feldspar rock. Crofting lands behind the house lead to the gentler hills of South Harris peppered with small lochs and the remains of Duns and shielings. Our local beach is just a few hundred yards in front of the house and there are many other beautiful beaches within easy reach including the world-class Scarista and Luskentyre. Harris golf course is less than a 5-minute drive away and superb fishing is available nearby. We really are spoiled. When are you coming over?

Leave Review"another fantastic week"
By The Ogg Crew on 18-Oct-2024Have enjoyed another fantastic week here. Thank you Alison for looking after us, we so love staying in your immaculate home. Harris brings us so much enjoyment and relaxation - it feeds our souls and clears our minds! Delightful cocktails at the Gin Distillery, really great food and beer at the Brewery, Leverburgh (so great to see it open again) and a lovely visit to A.S Apothecary. Very interesting! Looking forward to returning here next year. Grateful thanks ...Also, a HUGE thank you to Alison for letting us stay on a wee bitty longer thanks to storm Ashley! You are so caring Alison, thank you!
"beautiful and luxurious"
By Jane & Nigel (Edinburgh) Dinah and Nigel (W Yorks) on 23-Jun-2024A beautiful, luxurious house in a beautiful, sparcely populated place and we loved it. The beach at Northton is fantastic (they all are) and a bit further down the road at Leverburgh is the Harris Brewing Co - the only bar of any sort really. Good food there too, Sunday everything closes, except the lighthouse coffee shop at the Southern end of Scalpay. Also recommended is the Harris Gin Distillery tour at Tarbert. We had a grand time here, and would recommend to anyone. Thank you. NOTE The Bothy at Leverburgh has reopened IMay 2025) so additional bar and eatery available nearby. They are also open for roast lunch on Sundays.
"Official Harris addicts"
By Amy, Gary, Silvi, Stanley and Frank on 09-Aug-2024Our 2nd stay! 'Official Harris addicts. We'll be back - always something new to discover. Highly recommend the newly expanded Isle of Harris Brewery in Leverburgh - great food, service and views (and beer of course!). Also Harris Glass in Seilebost - make your own.

"even more in love with the island and the house"
By Gordon, Cat, Lewis, Euan, Andrew and Rusty on 02-Aug-2024Its been 6 years since our last visit and even more in love with the island and the house. We've had some glorious weather mixed with not so glorious but didn't spoil our trip. We tried coasteering with Scaladale - AMAZING! Sea fishing with Seatrek - lovely fresh mackerel for tea! Was great to visit all the Uist Islands for the day - well worth a trip - loads of eating options! Thoroughly enjoyed the craft fayres and art galleries - lots of goodies coming home!! Spent a lovely couple of hours at Harris Glass Studios making coasters and sun catchers. All the local shops have everything you'll ever need. We'll be back xx
