Enter through an impressive hallway, with sweeping stone steps and flagstone floors. Sit and relax with a glass of wine in one of the two separate sitting rooms, with large comfortable sofas, exposed beams and a wood burning stove to warm those cooler nights. The centre-piece of the house is a huge open plan kitchen and dining area, featuring a dining table which seats the entire party of up to 15, as well as a leather chesterfield sofa and a cosy wood-burning effect, electric stove. The kitchen is full of character with granite counter tops, A-framed beams and a classic, modern four oven electric AGA range cooker. Downstairs is a beautiful bedroom with en-suite shower room. Upstairs is a superb family master bedroom suite with super king-sized bed, leading to both a room with bunk beds, and to an en-suite shower room with double basins. There is a further stunning en-suite king-size bedroom, as well as a bedroom with king-sized mahogany sleigh bed, and two stylish twin rooms. There is a lovely family bathroom with separate shower and roll-top bath. Wake up to the glorious scenery, then wander outside to take in the landscape in its entirety, whilst you relax on one of two patio areas, or enjoy a warm soak in the hot tub. Quiet footpaths trail through the valley, where deer, owl and pheasants potter, and guests will find plenty of pretty, secluded spaces perfect for picnics. There are excellent walks and cycle rides accessible direct from the property. A cosy local pub is within walking distance, and a farm shop nearby. Unwind in the local medieval village of Heptonstall; a beautiful, cobbled, village with a museum and two pubs. The National Trust woodland of Hardcastle Crags is on the doorstep, offering numerous walks, a mill museum and cafe. Hebden Bridge is 3 miles away and offers an eclectic choice of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants, as well as a stylish art deco independent cinema.. In Halifax guests can visit Shibden Hall and Estate, once home to Anne Lister of Gentleman Jack Fame. There's also the famous Piece Hall shopping and music venue, and the Eureka National children's museum. There are many day-trip options, including Haworth (home of the Bronte sisters), the Worth Valley steam railway, and Skipton, the historic town that is gateway to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, with its castle, priory and historic market.

Birthday Celebration

By Deborah on 13-Sep-2023

We spent a wonderful couple of nights at the Long View celebrating a 50th birthday. The house is spacious and well equipped. Highlights include the views from the hot tub and from our family suite! Sarah, the host, is very knowledgeable and really wants everyone to have a great holiday.

Lovely house, with amazing views.

Beautiful Wonderfulness

By Simon T on 09-Jun-2023

Life is all about people talking to other people and this is where I'd like to start this review as the host in question was excellent. Sarah was highly communicative and a delight from initial contact to final goodbyes! I can see why the property is called 'The Lonview' as it is in a truly amazing location and the views are genuinly humbling. We were blessed with glorious sunshine throughout our stay which allowed us to enjoy both the copious amount of space both inside and outside. Upon arrival, the property was spotless and was perfect for our gathering of 12 friends. The bedrooms and bathrooms are impressive and proportional to a property of this size. We never had children with us but the games room would make this a perfect location for large family gatherings. The dining room is fantastic and the large table created a wonderful atmosphere at meal times. The kitchen is well equipped and boasts a wonderful and very easy to use Arga; it also boasts a large 'utility' room with large American Style Fridge Freezer. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and Hebden Bridge is either a 1 hour walk or a 15-20 min drive away. The property is accessed via a track about 1 mile long; whilst steep, it is fairly easy to navigate and the owners have evidently invested in a concrete track to ensure cars do not get stuck in adverse weather. The track starts right next to the New Delight pub which is a little gem and super friendly. In summary, if you have a large group and you are looking for an amazing property in a wonderful location with an option for peace and quiet along with the buzz and cultural diversity of the neighbouring Hebden Bridge... then you have found your perfect place! I have no doubt I will be booking again.
