Description

A beautifully converted space - ideal to relax and connect. You will enjoy a generous open-plan living area, a cosy log burner, and two luxurious en-suite bedrooms. Perfect for two couples or a family - with one bedroom offering flexible bed arrangement.

As well as board games, books, toys and Netflix there's also a games room with table tennis. A well equipped kitchen allows you to spend time together over meals.

The Victorian barn is set in peaceful countryside with stunning open views.

The space
Escape to the serene beauty of the Yorkshire countryside at Crabtree Barn. As you drive down the winding country lane towards the barn, the bird song gets louder and the cars fade way.

As you reach a small clearing with the stunning converted Victorian barn the stress leaves your body - and breathe.

The first thing that strikes you are the views - hills and valleys all around, the wildlife, the peace.

Into the barn - with over 100m² of light-filled living space and a private garden, it’s the ultimate retreat for relaxation and to unwind.

BEDROOMS
The two ensuite bedrooms are on the ground floor. Both with comfortable large beds, cotton bedding and black out blinds to make sure you sleep long and well. There's plenty of storage and modern, sparkling clean bathrooms.

LIVING SPACE
Then head upstairs to the first floor which leads you to the wow factor open plan living area. The upside-down layout purposefully allows the living space to take in the light and showcases the breathtaking views.

Picture yourself on one of the comfy sofas in front of the woodburner watching the clouds drift by, perhaps reading a book from the wide range provided.

Evenings are great for preparing a meal in the well-equipped kitchen - large enough to enjoy cooking together. The kitchen is often complimented by guests for the wide choice of cooking utensils, pots and pans allowing you to rustle up a feast! A dining table situated by the large barn archway comfortably seats everyone.

Afterwards, perhaps settling down to a game of Monopoly or just watching a film together.

GARDEN
Heading round the side of the building and you'll find the garden with 2 terraces and a summer house just for you. The summer house is perfect for your morning coffee and watching the sun come up across the hillside with nothing on the agenda.

Again the views are stunning. A perfect place in summer for a glass of wine and some nibbles.
Spot some of the rare birds or even our local wild deer.

GAMES ROOM
At the back of the building you'll find the entrance to the games room for a spot of table tennis to work off some steam.
Conveniently there's a laundry area here too.

WHAT'S NEAR?
When you're properly relaxed you might want to explore a little, here are some nearby ideas:

Although situated in rural hills the location is just a short drive from Halifax, Huddersfield and nearby villages of Barkisland, Ripponden, Slaithwaite and Marsden.

Manchester, Leeds and York are easily accessible too via the motorway or you can let the train take the strain using Slaithwaite station (3 miles away) with direct trains to all 3 destinations.

The Piece Hall in Halifax has a packed summer season of outdoor concerts and is just 7 miles (20 mins drive) away.

Quirky Hebden Bridge is half an hour away and is often enjoyed as part of a day out combining with a visit to the Bronte village of Haworth.

Marsden Moor National Trust is 10 minutes drive with hundreds of miles of trails or you can put your wellies on and just walk straight for the front door. There is an OS map on the bookshelves for you to use or ask and we can suggest local routes for you - with or without a refreshment stop.

We'll send you a full guide with lots more ideas of places to eat and visit before your arrival.

EV CHARGER
For those travelling by electric vehicle, a discreet slow EV charger is available near the barn entrance. Please contact us before your stay to arrange usage (charge applies).

BABIES AND CHILDREN
Families are welcome! We do include children in our maximum number of 4 people plus a baby up to age 24 months is very welcome sleeping in a travel cot.

To save space in your car, you'll find the following items at the barn for you:
Kids plates, cutlery, a sippy cup, a handheld blender, a changing mat, a travel cot, a toy box, a potty, a toddler toilet seat and a step up. We can put a fireguard and safety gate in the living area at your request before you come. We also have a highchair available at extra cost to cover the extra cleaning.

We don't supply bedding for your baby though due to SIDDS risks. So please do bring your own preferably the type which your baby is used to.

Guest access
*The barn is a complete, private dwelling with no shared access spaces.

*As well as the spacious barn you have sole access to a basement games room with a full sized table-tennis room and sofa and also a useful washing machine. It's also an indoor secure area to keep bicycles.

*Outdoor - there is a large private garden with terrace and lawned area for your use only also with seats/table and a summer house all with fabulous views.

*There are 2 off-road parking spaces directly in front of the barn for guests use only. A car is needed to get around as we are based in the countryside. However Slaithwaite train station is a 10 minutes drive away with direct routes to Leeds (40 mins), York (65 mins) and Manchester (40 mins) to avoid the traffic.

*Local towns Halifax and Huddersfield are just a short drive away with Ripponden, Slaithwaite and Marsden even closer - at a 10-15 minute drive.

*Enjoy a horse riding experience with Nest riding stables just 5 minutes walk away.

Other things to note
Although the barn feels in the middle of countryside and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is also within easy drive of many top notch restaurants, pubs and take-aways, including 2 in the 2022 Michelin guide (Engine tapas in Sowerby Bridge and Shibden Mill Inn in Halifax) as well as many country pubs, Indian and Thai restaurants and takeaways too, so you're spoilt for choice!

Set in the area where renowned TV writer Sally Wainwright was born and grew up so filming locations for Rebel Women, Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax and Gentleman Jack are all nearby.

For wedding guests, we are also set just 2 miles from The Venue, at Barkisland, Halifax and 2.5 miles from The Fleece Inn.
