More Details
Harbour beach is only a 2 minute stroll from the cottage and overlooks the lifeboat station. Practice nights are usually Thursdays from 6pm. A real treat to see the lifeboat crew launch the lifeboat and carry out practice drills. A great view of this from the terrace.
Ilfracombe is a very relaxed, friendly town with many independent shops, cafes, pubs, ice cream parlours, pasty shops, chip shops and restaurants - plus a Lidl! Most of which can be reached within a 2-10 minute stroll is the cottage. There is also a large Tesco superstore a 5 minute drive from the cottage.
The cottage is situated on the coastal path. You can take a beautiful walk around the coast to Lee Bay to the West and stop for lunch in the very old and quaint Grampus Inn which has a consistently good contemporary menu (1hr 30mins walk - Grampus will order you a taxi back!) Or an easier Easterly walk to Hele Bay. You can also walk to the top of Hillsborough in around 20 minutes - the hill to the right as you look out from the terrace known locally as ‘The Elephant’
During Easter and throughout the summer, you can take boat ride right from the harbour. Lots of different trips available including dolphin and seal watching. You can also book a trip to Lundy Island.
There is a lovely swimming pool only a 10 minute walk along the coast.
Pets are very welcome.
Neighbourhood
Ilfracombe is a great place to stay. The high street has many independent shops, cafes and art galleries and a wide range of restaurants including The Olive Branch which has been awarded a Michelin Star.
The cottage is situated in one of the oldest parts of Ilfracombe, known as the artisan quarter and the original part of the cottage dates back to the 1820s. It's situated in a quiet part of town away from the hustle and bustle with no road noise and very few people passing by.
Getting Around
There is a garage attached to the cottage and getting around by car is very easy. There are buses leaving from the town quite regularly, travelling to various destinations around North Devon. You can book a ferry to the Lundy island which leaves direct from the harbour. There is also a land train during school holidays which travels around the town which is good for getting your bearings and for people with decreased mobility.
Booking
During the summer months of July and August we take bookings for check in / check out on Mondays and Fridays only. The rest of the year we are flexible but require a three night minimum stay throughout the year.

Leave ReviewAdorable Harbourside Cottage!
By Vicky M., Austin Texas USA on 15-Jan-2024This is the most adorable cottage right on the harbour. The cottage has everything you could possible need and check in and out process was very easy. The host was very helpful and communicative. There are quite a few stairs in the cottage but good handrails for all and makes a unique layout. We were lucky enough to see the lifeboat launch for practice on the Thursday night. The location is perfect and you can easily walk into town, to the beaches and around the harbour area. I would not hesitate to recommend for a holiday in Ilfracombe and the North Devon coast.
Great house in great location
By KhinMaung Y. on 16-Jun-2024The house was equipped with everything we needed, Excellent high quality toys which gave great enjoyment to our little grand daughter. The walk-in shower room was also first class. The attached garage was a great bonus. Many good restaurants are only a few minutes walk from the cottage. The communication and support from the host, Liz, was very prompt and helpful when we contacted her with a query about the central heating. We all had a very pleasant stay, Thank you.

Amazing shower. Great communication with Liz. Would highly recommend. The garage came in very handy. Thanks Liz for the treats and hopefully we will stay again.
