A lovely pace to stay with good friends

By J Mc on 27-Jun-2025

A lovely place to stay with good friends … The wildlife was wonderful, hares, green veined butterflies, herons, egrets, and amazing birdsong, just outside the bedroom windows! We loved strolling down our little lane, past the ‘Redstart tree’. Lovely bright house, easy to live in. So relaxing… A wonderful venue for our 3 x 45 years wedding anniversaries. From stately homes and gardens to the honey farm at Chainbridge, the Eildon Hills, riverside walks and tea rooms, we are fully invigorated. Thrilled to see Barn Owls. This is a very special place. Thank you, Sue!!

Fantastic Kelso Cottage

By C. H on 09-Jun-2025

My fourth trip to Hendersyde, but first in West Cottage. Your hostess Sue Beck is wonderful and you will not be disappointed in the location on a ridge with great views. Working farm with arable land and sheep. Glorious walk down the hill to stream. Only 2 miles outside Kelso which is such a friendly town with good restaurants. We were lucky enough to get good weather, but there are plenty of things to do if weather not so kind: Floors Castle, Thirlestane Castle & Mellerstain to name three on our last trip. The Hirsel Estate nearby good for gentle walking around the lake. The roads are very quiet and you are assured a peaceful relaxing time. The cottage is very well equipped with nice sunny garden to sit in. Hendersyde has a lot of repeat business which demonstrates how successful and popular it is.. Thank you, Sue for yet another memorable wonderful holiday.

Great holiday in The Scottish Borders

By Ted on 01-Jun-2025

We had a great holiday which was much needed by us both. The cottage, Southsyde, which is the middle one of three, was comfortable and well equipped. Opening the curtains in the morning the sheep and lambs were grazing just over the fence. We were back on a farm! Sue gave us a friendly welcome and saw us into the cottage. Walking Daisy, our ten-year-old Cocker Spaniel first thing in the morning was very easy, just down the short drive and on to quiet country lanes. Ideal. The location was just right. Border towns and villages were within an easy drive. Good walks and lovely historic country houses and gardens to visit. This was our first visit and we will be back. Don’t miss Floor’s Castle café.

Family friendly home from home

By Katy on 01-Feb-2025

We recently stayed in Millsyde cottage for a couple of weeks with our newborn and toddler. It was a beautiful setting, a home from home. We couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable setting and the house was perfectly prepared and stylish. Sue was really lovely and such a welcoming host, making us some delicious shortbread on arrival! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend to family and friends. She really has thought of everything and if we could have moved in, we would have! Thanks so much again for giving us the most homely stay. We won’t ever forget it!

Millsyde

By Melanie Jones on 18-Aug-2023

There is a reason we have been staying at Hendersyde for 12 years. Millsyde is ideal for our family, plenty of space inside & out for teenagers!! Added bonus of table tennis table and plenty of family games. The Cottage, as always, was immaculate as was the surrounding garden. If you want peace and quiet then Millsyde is ideal, the only noise you'll hear is the occasional owl or geese flying over and if you're lucky you might see the combine harvester in the surrounding fields. Lots of local walks, some starting from the farm. Ideal location for local rail link as well, 30 minutes to Tweedbank Station and direct train into Edinburgh. Sue Beck couldn't be more helpful and always has new recommendations for places to visit for all ages. Nothing is too much trouble for Sue. We shall be returning for our 13th year next year.

Supremely comfortable.

By David M on 21-Oct-2023

Impossible to fault any aspect of Millsyde and Sue’s attention to detail. The beds are extremely comfortable, the heating and modern design keep everywhere snug. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with appliances and above all outside the air is fresh and all you hear is bird song!
