Grimaud (14km): Grimaud is a charming medieval village with a small selection of shops, bars and restaurants ranging from traditional to haute cuisine. Grimaud is one of many inland villages and has its own unique character. We highly recommend you pay a visit to the antique market the Brocante du Jas des Roberts. A must-see place for all bargain hunters.

Port Grimaud (16km): Port Grimaud is a modern development built with colourful, traditional style fisherman’s houses lining canals, and has become known as known as the Venice of Provence. It is split into four islands linked by bridges over the waterways and is best visited by water bus.

Saint Tropez (20km – 30min or 20-30min by boat from Port Grimaud): Saint Tropez is the jewel on the crown of the Cote d’Azur. With its unbelievable charm, this fishing port with chic pavement cafés, shops and sophisticated nightlife still attracts celebrities from around the globe. Arguably everything in St Tropez is famous: over forty beaches such as the Bouillabaisse, Canoubiers and Salins, the legendary Place des Lices in the heat of the town dotted with cafés shaded by plane trees and locals playing boules. Whilst the hype of the 1960’s has settled, Saint Tropez remains a very attractive spot for the international Jet Set and people watching here remains a favourite sport! Regular boat trips to St Tropez. This is a great way of discovering St Tropez without the hassle of having to park your car or getting stuck in traffic. Crossings take 20-30min and costs around 13€ per person return from Port Grimaud.

Ramatuelle (21km): Why not take a trip to the famous Pampelonne beach? This is where the rich and famous of St Tropez usually hang out during the summer months. There are lots of well-known restaurants dotted along the beach such as the famous Club 55 which in spite of its success has managed to retain its charm. The beach stretches over several kilometres with a string of wonderful coves and rocky inlets so all you have to do is take a stroll and take your pick! In contrast, you can visit the peaceful perched village of Ramatuelle which offers great views along the coast.

Sainte Maxime (23km): Located on Saint Tropez Bay, the seaside resort of Sainte Maxime faces the Mediterranean Sea and is sheltered from the wind by the Maures Mountains. Take a stroll through the lively pedestrian streets of the old town right up to the pier overlooking the bay. There is a choice of lovely beaches in and around Sainte Maxime including the long, sandy La Croisette beach and the smaller beaches in nearby La Nartelle. There are also private beaches with restaurants available. There is ample parking in Sainte Maxime however it does get very busy in high season. There are numerous water sports activities available and also leisure activities such as golf, tennis but also walking, hiking and horse-riding in the nearby Maures Mountains. A boat trip across the bay is a great way of discovering St Tropez without the hassle of having to park your car or getting stuck in traffic. Crossings take 15 minutes and costs around 13€ per person return.

Frejus, Saint-Raphael (44km): Fréjus is an ancient military port and Roman city with a rich historical and architectural heritage. You will find some superb Roman remains including a Roman theatre still used for various summer events and one of the largest amphitheatres from Gallic times. Take a boat trip out to the nearby Lérins islands which offer fantastic views, pine and eucalyptus fragrance, unique plant species and the Fort Royal, the former residence of the Man in the Iron Mask.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES:

Local walk: A privately maintained trail leads past the house to the Monastere Notre Dame de Clémence de la Verne (Carthusian monastery of La Verne) located high in the Maures mountains. Maison La Verne

Our holiday was fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed by the three generations of our family. I have to start with the pool which was brilliant and well used throughout the holiday. The accommodation is of high quality, and everything supplied worked, I have never seen so many televisions. The property is well maintained and the daily maid service excellent. Thank you for your recommendation.

Beautiful house set in lovely grounds. All rooms were well appointed, bedrooms all of a good size and all with an en-suite. Master suite is huge and beautifully designed, with air conditioning and the most comfortable bed ever! Absolutely ideal and safe for young children as the pool was some distance away and gated off ( and with a pool alarm). The outside area is amazing with several seating and table areas – it looked very striking and appealing both in the daytime and the night. There is a cleaner who comes everyday which is great. Only bit of criticism I suppose is that it would have been nice if the garden was irrigated in some way as with a very hot dry summer it was all yellow and coarse which the children didn’t want to play on. But fantastic stay. Thank you!

Overall good stay with my family of 4 plus another family of 4. Very nice location, private but still close to many great things.

It was our second stay at the house and we loved it. It was our first time during winter time and it was as pleasant as in summer time, although different. We were met by the local manager of the house, who gave us a tour of the house and showed us the amenities and how to use them. She was extremely helpful and recommended places to eat and visit around the area. She also introduced us to the house keeper who provides a daily cleaning. The house is exactly as it looks in the photo’s – beautiful, quiet and full of character. It is real 200 years old villa with the old architecture but well equiped with modern household equipment. We had everything we needed and more, as the house can accommodate 12 people and we were only four. The furnishings are old and in keeping with the property but all are very functional and comfortable. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped. The bedrooms are very pretty and comfortable. They all have ensuite bathrooms, except two bedrooms that share a common bathroom. In short, a beautiful house, comfortable and well laid out. Feels very spacious too. We had everything we needed for a week of living, There is an amazingly huge and serene garden, which was the best part of the stay. It has different areas to sit and relax and provides much needed shade in the summer heat. The terrace and its dining table under the big tree provided a nice option for sitting outside for meals. The pool is huge and was the kids’ favorite place. Felt safe to know that it equipped with an alarm. Great location surrounded by beautiful scenery. It is ideal for people who want to be close to all that the south of france has to offer, stay distant from the tourists’ crowd. Great location if you want to visit both beaches and mountain areas, and for visiting many sites, villages and coastal areas in Provence. It’s also a bit cooler than by the coast if you are worried about the heat in summer. Perfect getaway for our family holiday and we can only recommend it!
