18th Century barn lovingly restored in 2017 to a four bedroom holiday dwelling sleeping eight. This stunning Westmorland barn offers authentic Lake District architecture with every modern amenity. Thornyfield farmstead is undoubtedly one of the oldest in the area. The house dates back to 1580 – additional buildings being added as the owners prospered. This barn is believed to have been added around 1800, its first existence on a map being 1860.Beautiful detached barn conversion drenched in long stretching countryside views adjacent to the beautiful Winster Valley, just four miles from Bowness-on-Windermere. Boasting a luxury feel with pure attention to detail, this accommodation has been designed with the whole family in mind. Follow the winding garden and enter inside to the bespoke kitchen, home to an island/breakfast bar, overlooked by pretty lighting, perfect for relaxing in the morning hours.
A charming dining area lies close by with bench seating, ideal for enjoying dinner time meals. Wander up the stairs to the sitting room layered with exposed beams and plenty of seating, so you can feel right at home in front of the wood burner on a cosy evening.French doors open out to the patio and views of the garden create a peaceful backdrop.

It is such a lovely setting. Beautiful yet tranquil, and a great base to go exploring the lake district. That said there are plentiful walks straight from the barn, with some fantastic views from the top of the nearby crags. The Barn itself is spacious, warm and very comfortable. We will no doubt be visiting again.

The barn interior is furnished to a superbly high standard. The place was absolutely spotless. We also had loads of room which was great as there were 7 of us there for part of our stay. The garden outside is lovely and the hot tub was really nice. We had a fantastic time and would recommend Thornyfield Barn to everyone. I will certainly be booking again.
