Description

Lis de la Valée is a period perigord house dating as far back as 1594. It has been lovingly restored, to an exceptional standard retaining its historical beauty and charm, coupled with modern contemporary living.

The house is set in the charming hamlet of Sauveboeuf which boarders the Bastille town of Lalinde (2 KM). There you can experience the culture, cafés, fine French cuisine and the hospitality of the locals. On Thursdays you can also enjoy a traditional French market, where the locals trade everything from fresh produce to antiques.

The property is within a 20 minute drive from Bergerac Airport. It benefits from a local shop, bar / restaurant (2 minute walk) and an intermarché (5 minute drive) where you can find a fresh meat and fish counter, a deli and a bakery. Sauveboeuf has a train station within walking distance, Bordeaux is approximately a 90 minute journey changing at Bergerac.

The ground floor of the property retains the beautiful sand and stone walls. The original oak beams were sourced from the disarmament of the French tall ship fleet. They were transported along the river canal system and sold to the wealthy land owners of the Dordogne region.

The sitting room has two large leather sofas, a fireplace with a log burner,Super fast fibre WIFI and a TV/DVD set with a collection of films. It has a limestone floor, castled windows and seats with views over the garden.

An Italian spiral staircase will lead you to the first floor. There are two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, each with a shower, toilet and hand-basin. The rooms are comfortably furnished and also feature the original exposed oak beams. The third double bedroom is self contained with access from the garden. It has an en-suite with shower, toilet and hand basin.

There are two additional put up beds, suitable for children, available on request.

The kitchen has the original 15th century fireplace and stone washery. It is fully equipped with electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge / freezer. It has a large table with six chairs and a center island with four stalls.

Leading off the kitchen there is a utility room with washing machine, toilet and hand basin.

The large garden, approximately 2/3 of an acre, mostly grass with a large patio area and path leading round the house to the third bedroom. There is a German made stone BBQ and a large outdoor table with six chairs to enjoy an early morning tea or evening drinks.

The property has a swimming pool with a spacious decking area with six sun-loungers.

Whilst enjoying your stay in the stunning unspoiled region of south-west France there is a wide range of outdoor activities. Perfect for canoeing, kayaking, horse-riding and cycling enthusiasts. Golf courses and Tennis courts are available locally. The picturesque area will also provide the perfect backdrop for a walk or picnic along the breath-taking Dordogne river.

Wonderful, Peaceful Escape

By Joanna Rose on 10-Jul-2023

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful house. A true home from home, the owners have thought of everything to make your stay a delight. The pool and garden are ideal for families, and the well-stocked kitchen makes self catering easy. Easily within reach of many local towns and the Dordogne River, loads to do for families in the area, but also a perfect place to relax and unwind. The downstairs stays cool in the heat of summer, upstairs we appreciated the fans in every bedroom.

Lovely house in a great location

By The McEwans on 17-Jun-2023

We had a very relaxing stay at Lis de la Vallée. The house offers a high standard of accommodation, privacy and space for all the family. We loved relaxing by the pool with the view of the chateau beyond and enjoying a meal together and playing games in the kitchen dining room, plus relaxing in evening in the gigantic lounge. There’s a convenient local shop and it’s only a few minutes drive to Lalinde with shops, restaurants, market and a supermarket. Many of the Dordogne’s attractions are within easy striking distance. Beautiful Lemeuil is a short drive away, as is Bergerac and its plethora of local vineyards. We enjoyed wine tasting at Chateau Montbazillac and took a drive past many Chateaux to take a boat trip at the very attractive La Roque Gageac. Owner Amanda was very helpful both leading up to and during our stay. Highly recommended!

The best guite we have ever stayed in

By ian on 21-Aug-2021

Accommodation Holiday Experience The best gite we have ever stayed in Date of stay: July 2020 Utterly fantastic gite. Large and cool downstairs rooms (even in 40 degree heat), a large and very well appointed kitchen. Pool ideal to splash about in. Large garden with plenty of space for badminton/boules/sunbathing/relaxing. Gite itself nicely located to reach a host of canoeing and other outdoor activities. Lalinde on the doorstep for a decent sized supermarket, and nice mid-week market. Owners could not have been more helpful. Recommended. Review by: Ian Fabulous property in a lovely location Date of stay: August 2019 This is a beautiful property set in large grounds with a lovely pool. The large rustic kitchen has all the amenities required and the massive living room is a delight to relax in out of the midday heat - the downstairs remained cool at all times. The two bedrooms upstairs are of a decent size, both en suite. The adjoining separate annex is also lovely - a granny annex for the mother in law in our case. We found the location excellent and the hosts very helpful. Highly recommended. Review by: Andy A dream holiday home in the beautiful Dordogne ?? Date of stay: August 2019 This house is just amazing. A kitchen to die for with everything you could possibly need fully equipped inc cupboard with herbs and spices etc. 2 large bedrooms upstairs and a great annex. Huge lounge with games, dvds & a smart TV. The garden is huge with a plum tree free fruit to eat. Lovely Pool, with a chateaux view. Location - perfect 3km to local supermarket & village with a great market once a week. A nice cheap pizza restaurant at the bottom of the road. Amanda the owner was lovely.
