Gîte “St. Emilion” – A Taste of French Charm in the Heart of Wine CountryWelcome to Gîte “St. Emilion”, one of the four charming holiday residences at Gîtes Le Mathelin, nestled among the sun-drenched vineyards of Lamothe-Montravel in the beautiful Dordogne region of southwest France.
Located just a short drive from the world-renowned wine regions of St. Emilion and Pomerol, our gîtes offer the perfect base for wine lovers, nature enthusiasts, and families seeking relaxation in an authentic French countryside setting.
Your Home Away From Home:
Gîte St. Emilion comfortably accommodates up to 5 guests and is ideal for families or friends traveling together. Housed in a lovingly renovated French stone grange, the gîte is spread over two floors and features:
One bedroom with a double bed (160 x 190) and private washbasin
One bedroom with three single beds and a private washbasin
Two bathrooms – one with a shower, one with a bathtub
Separate toilet
Fully equipped open kitchen with oven, microwave, and dishwasher
Spacious living room with dining area and sitting lounge
Private terrace with direct access to the large, beautifully landscaped communal garden

By Dominique on 29-Aug-2025Quiet surroundings and yet all facilities within easy reach. Beautiful region with many opportunities to visit wine castles, villages and nature walks. There is no shortage of nice, affordable restaurants.

By Nicola on 15-Aug-2024We loved everything about our stay and are so grateful to Bas and Marieke for welcoming us and our 2 sons and our (sometimes noisy) dog. It was such a memorable holiday for us. The gite itself is beautiful with lovely outside space at both the front and back of the property. The swimming pool is amazing and the gardens are perfect for young children with trampoline, table tennis and space to play football. The sunsets are the most amazing I have ever seen and I loved walking our dog along the path through the vineyard to watch them. We loved visiting Saint Emilion and taking the train through the vineyards there, Les Jardins de Sardy and Lac de Gurson. We can't wait to return again in the future.
Great Stay in a great location - would recommend!!!
By Tracey on 27-Sep-2025We wanted a remote, quiet location that offered some peaceful downtime - Gites le Mathelin delivered all of that in spades. The location and facilities were brilliant - we arrive mid September and missed the really how weather but we were still able to get out and see the area and then retreat to the gite in the evening. The hosts introduced themselves to us on the first day and then just left us to it - they explained where they were if we needed them. The property was nice and clean and a great place to just sit and read. Would certainly book again if we are in the area. Thank you for a great stay!
