Description

Vineyard Windmill Escape | Private Pool, Hot Tub & Panoramic Views (Sleeps 4)

Set entirely on its own among the vineyards, Le Tour des Vignes is a rare and atmospheric 18th-century windmill offering complete privacy, sweeping countryside views, and a genuinely unforgettable stay in rural Gironde.

Surrounded by vines with no close neighbours, this unique property is designed for guests seeking peace, character, and something far removed from a standard holiday gîte. It is ideal for couples, honeymooners, or a small family with older children, who value tranquillity, space, and a distinctive setting.

The windmill has been carefully restored and arranged over multiple levels, blending historic character with modern comfort. Inside you’ll find a bespoke oak kitchen with full-size appliances, a light-filled upper-level lounge with panoramic vineyard views, and a romantic master bedroom featuring a star-gazing roof window directly above the bed. A second bedroom provides flexible accommodation, allowing the property to sleep up to four guests in total.

Outdoors, the setting truly comes into its own. Guests enjoy a private kidney-shaped swimming pool with integrated jacuzzi seating, as well as a large separate hot tub for six to seven people, perfect for long evenings under the stars. Shaded terraces, a BBQ and a firepit create an ideal space for relaxed outdoor dining and quiet nights overlooking the vineyards.

Le Tour des Vignes is set up exclusively for a maximum of four guests and is intentionally not configured for larger groups, ensuring a calm, uncrowded and high-quality experience.

Important Information

Due to winding stone stairs, level changes and trap doors, this property is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or young children. It is best suited to confident walkers who are comfortable with stairs and appreciate unusual architecture.

Location

The property is located close to the historic bastide town of Monségur, known for its lively weekly market, cafés and restaurants. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for vineyard visits, cycling, walking, and exploring the wider Bordeaux and wine-growing regions, all within easy driving distance.

Why Guests Choose Le Tour des Vignes

• Complete privacy with no immediate neighbours
• A genuinely unique 18th-century windmill, not a standard holiday home
• Rare combination of private pool and large hot tub
• Panoramic vineyard views and exceptional peace and quiet
• A memorable setting that guests repeatedly describe as special and different

In Summary

Le Tour des Vignes is not a conventional rental. It is a character retreat for guests who want privacy, atmosphere, and a distinctive vineyard setting in one of the most beautiful parts of southwest France.

If you are looking for a peaceful, memorable stay in a truly unique property, this windmill offers an experience that standard holiday homes simply cannot.

Magical Stay in a unique setting

By Mike on 19-Jul-2025

We had a truly fantastic stay in this beautifully converted windmill near Monségur. Perched at the top of a hill, the setting is absolutely stunning, with far-reaching views over the surrounding vineyards. The breeze was a welcome companion during the hot days, making the outdoor spaces all the more enjoyable. The windmill itself is full of character and history — quirky in the best way — and we really appreciated its charm and uniqueness. It was a treat to stay somewhere so different and thoughtfully preserved. The swimming pool was a highlight — almost infinity-like in its outlook, offering superb views and a great spot to cool off and unwind. The hot tub under the stars was perfect for relaxed evenings and ideal for spotting satellites or just soaking up the peace and quiet. We slept incredibly well — the calmness and fresh air made for very restful nights. We also loved exploring the local area; Monségur has a lot to offer, from its lovely restaurants and welcoming market square to the lively daytime and evening food markets. It has a real old-world charm that’s both relaxing and full of life. Altogether, it was a wonderfully refreshing and memorable experience. We enjoyed every minute and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Logement avec un charme fou

By LYDIE P., Elne on 20-Sep-2020

By Anja T. on 24-Aug-2019

Ultimate Chill out!

By West M. on 06-Sep-2016

We are a family of four with two teenage daughters. Our week at the Tour was absolutely idillic. We all came away feeling totally chilled out which was exactly what we where after. It was the most beautiful location with the most fantastic views over the vineyards, rustic and quirky and totally unique, which is what we adored about it. Having a swimming pool and hot tub to ourselves was the icing on the cake. Shops and restaurants within a short distance was ideal for us. Our week there just flew by and we where very sad to leave. The host Rita and her son, could not do enough for us. Rita even posting stuff to us that we had left behind. We would highly recommend that if you want to experience something unique, individual, small but perfectly formed, this is the place for you. We certainly plan to return very soon.

A little paradise

By Katrina F. on 23-Aug-2018

We had a fantastic week at La tour. It was perfect for us and our two jack Russell dogs. We loved the views, the large garden area, the swimming pool and the hot tub. We enjoyed cooking food on the barbecue each evening. It was easy to get provisions from the charming town of Monsegur, where there is a small supermarket. We also went to La reole for a bigger supermarket and to get the vet treatment for our dogs before our return to the UK. We visited a charming market in Sauveterre. The views from the sail room were magnificent and watching the Monday night storm was amazing. Overall, we had fantastic weather. Our host Rita was very friendly and welcoming and gave us a much appreciated welcome basket, including those essentials such as toilet roll and shower gel as well as a pizza and salad, a bottle of bubbly and red wine and treats for the dogs. The information provided by Rita was also extremely helpful, informing us about where we could shop, when the local markets took place and the nearest vet. The holiday was a great getaway from our usual busy lives. We will definitely return.
