Description

Winterton is one of three cottages at Hendre House Cottages. Renting all three of our cottages is ideal for family groups with our cottages sleeping 10 (+2; with this cottage having a double sofa bed in the lounge).

Our beautiful traditional stone cottages are set in a peaceful location close to Solva on St Davids peninsula and near the famous Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with its many sandy beaches (both Whitesands Bay and Newgale beaches are only a short drive away) and offer you the most tranquil and relaxed stay, in the heart of Pembrokeshire.

We are officially rated as four star self-catering accommodation by Visit Wales and were selected as a finalist in the 2018 Pembrokeshire Tourism awards.

Winterton sleeps 4 (+2, one of the sofas in the lounge is a sofa-bed) – Charges from £550 per week low season to £1,130 per week summer season for 2025 based on a 4 person occupancy, additional occupancy charged at £50 per person per week

Our normal check in days are Friday or Monday and we have a 1 week minimum during school holidays and a 3 night minimum at all other times.

Outside: Fenced garden with picnic table and logstore complete with supplies

Ground floor: Kitchen (with dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, oven, hob and microwave) and open plan lounge with log burner, Freeview TV and DVD player, and dining area

First floor: Main bedroom (double bed), second bedroom (2 x full singles set up as bunks), bathroom with full bath and shower

Our facilities include a secure indoor heated swimming pool (40ft x 20ft, depth is 4ft). The pool walls are glazed and seating is provided inside and outside the pool area. The pool is also used by ourselves and is operational all year round. All children younger than 15 must be supervised. There is no lifeguard. We have also now installed a hot tub/spa in the pool area so that the adults can relax in comfort.

We also have a BBQ cabin on site so you can BBQ even if the weather isn’t ideal. The cabin seats up to 15 and everything you need is supplied. As we have three holiday lets a booking sheet is attached to the front door of the cabin. Most of our visitors are happy to share the cabin. In addition kettle BBQs are provided for each of the cottages.

Our playground includes swings (one cradle seat for toddlers and a flat seat for older kids), a wooden climbing and balancing area and a playhouse.

Our shed doesn’t contain gardening equipment (like most sheds) but a range of books, DVDs, games and baby toys. They are all free to use during your stay.

We also have a fire pit area for just sitting around our toasting marshmallows.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage.

We are also happy to welcome dogs to the cottage (a maximum of two per cottage is allowed; an additional charge applies).

Shorter stays are available outside the school holidays (with a 3 night minimum). Long weekends (3 nights) are charged at 75% of the weekly rate.

Stair gates, baby chairs and cots are available on request for our younger visitors. We do charge for some of the items. Sheets are provided for the cots but visitors should bring additional bedding needed for small children. The kitchens are stocked with plastic plates, bowls, cups and cutlery.

To secure a booking we ask for a 25% deposit. Payment can be made by bank transfer (details will be provided in an e-mail, sent following receipt of your booking request) or cheque. The remainder of the rent is due 28 days prior to arrival at the latest and again can be made by bank transfer or cheque.

Great Christmas

What a great Christmas spent at Hendre House with all of my family. A bottle of prosecco, chocolates and homemade Welsh Cakes were left in both cottages along with a visit from Michelle with her children on Christmas Eve with homemade mince pies which my dad & Son said were one of the nicest mince pies they have had. The cottages were spotless and had everything needed to cook a big Christmas dinner. The pool/hot tub area was immaculate and loved by children and grandchildren alike.... all in all, a great place to stay with some lovely places to visit nearby.... would definitely recommend.

Fantastic stay

We had a fantastic stay in Winterton cottage. A real home away from home, it had everything we needed. The grounds are immaculate, and our children loved playing outside. The toy shed had loads of toys and games. The indoor pool and hot tub are amazing. 2 miles from Solva, which is a beautiful village. Very close St David's and other beautiful areas on the Pembrokeshire coast. Highly recommend this place for families. We had all 3 cottages and full use of the pool. The owners are very helpful but leave you to it. We will visit again.

We loved our holiday

We loved our holiday in Winterton Cottage, beautiful, well appointed accommodation with everything we needed for our stay. The pool, hot tub and toy shed kept our little ones entertained and the grounds and bbq hut were perfect for those long summer evenings. Beautiful beaches were only a stones throw away!

Lovely stay

We had a lovely stay in Winterton Cottage. Peaceful location and plenty to do on-site with pool, hot tub and BBQ. Cottage beautifully furnished, well equipped and maintained, and everywhere was extremely clean. Local area packed with outdoor things to do, and we had brilliant weather for it. Highlights were surfing at Newgale, boat trip around Ramsey Island, and evening fish and chips at Porthgain by the harbour. Would definitely recommend.

Best equipped cottage

Hendre House is probably the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. I cannot recommend it more highly. It is extremely comfortable and in a great location. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the shower was great. It is perfect for dogs and is totally geared up for babies/children. The pool was fantastic and a hot tub is also available. We could not fault this place and will definitely be returning.
