Description
Le Bousquet is an idyllic rural retreat located in the Dordogne valley, France. Sympathetically restored but retaining its original charm, Le Bousquet has a beautiful salt water heated pool, large elevated deck, marvellous views and privacy. The property has six spacious bedrooms, four of which have en-suite facilities and all linen and towels, including pool towels, are provided. There is a cinema room with a large flat screen TV in addition to a comfortable lounge, a family room and a dining room. Well-equipped main and summer kitchens and laundry facilities ensure a comfortable stay. All TV’s have British and French television and there is high-speed Wi-Fi internet throughout the property and a wired connection in the lounge.Rated as 4* by the Tourism Correze, Le Bousquet can also be configured as a 2 or 3 bedroom property without the upper floor bedrooms outside of the peak season. Prices shown are for the 3 bedroom configuration except for Peak season which show the 6 bedroom pricing. Bookings for the 3 bedroom configuration in the Peak season are taken from the preceding January. Please see our website for complete pricing of all configurations.
Its location allows easy access to explore a wide variety of the attractions that the Dordogne valley has to offer. From the allure of some of Frances most beautiful villages to the serenity of the surrounding countryside. The farmhouse has all the modern conveniences to offer a comfortable and relaxing stay whilst still retaining the charm of a traditional building in the heart of the countryside.
Le Bousquet is located midway between the two historic market towns of Beaulieu sur Dordogne and Meyssac. Both towns offer lots of choices for shopping as well as having market days where the best of local produce is for sale. Brive la Gaillarde is located 25kms away and has an airport with services to London and Paris. The train service to Brive is direct from Paris Austerlitz with car hire available at the station.
Kayaking on the Dordogne river, cycling, visits to the pre-historic caves of Pech Merle or Lascaux, medieval towns of Collonges la Rouge, Turenne and Curemonte, Chateau of Castelnau are just a few of the activities to discover in this beautiful region.
Le Bousquet is a unique property providing the perfect base for visiting the many medieval towns, stunning countryside and the Dordogne river .... or if you prefer .... just relaxing and recovering from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
The cottage sits in a 3/4 acre of private and enclosed grounds surrounded by fields and farmland with no near neighbours to disturb you, with a south facing terrace, outdoor seating, dining table and gas BBQ - perfect for al fresco dining. In the summer months the beautiful 10x4 metre saltwater pool is available - great for relaxing on a lazy day and wonderfully soothing after a long day sightseeing!
We are dog friendly so even your four-legged family members can enjoy a holiday and with plenty of quiet country lanes, pretty woodlands and the Dordogne river in the area you will find great opportunities for both walking and cycling locally.
On the ground floor, there is a dining area, main lounge and a spacious fitted kitchen. The spacious lounge with ceiling fan is equipped with sofas, a LED Smart TV with English Freeview TV channels via satellite and french tnt channels. The kitchen has an island and breakfast bar, induction hob & two ovens, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, kettle & toaster. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils for your use, with cooking items including pans, baking equipment & casseroles. There is even a selection of cookery books for inspiration.
There is a separate toilet and utility room with washing machine, dryer and a washer/dryer together with clothes airers, iron and ironing board
From the kitchen and dining area there are doors leading out to a south-facing raised terrace with dining table and seating for 14 overlooking the pool and garden with far reaching views of the surrounding countryside.
On the lower ground floor, there is an open-plan family room with sofas and a summer kitchenette to complement the outside side terrace complete with electric hob, combination microwave oven, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. There is a games area with a games table and a selection of exercise equipment including exercise cycle, rowing machine and weights. There is also a toilet easily accessible from the pool and covered seating area under the raised deck.
There is a cinema room with UHD LED Smart TV with English Freeview TV channels via satellite and french tnt channels, together with a DVD player and surround sound system. There is comfortable seating for 8 on three generous sofas. There are a large selection of DVD’s, books & games, and music systems with an iPod dock and bluetooth interface.
The master bedroom suite is on the basement level with French doors overlooking the pool. On the ground floor are our family rooms with Bedrooms 2, at the rear with french doors and countryside views, and bedroom 3, at the front with its own private terrace with seating, Bedrooms 4, 5 and 6 are on the upper floor and each has air-conditioning. Bedroom 4 is a double aspect room with windows to the side and rear whilst bedroom 5 is at the rear and bedroom 6 at the front of the property. Each bathroom is fully equipped with heated towel rails and a hair-drier.
Two travel cots and mattresses are available on request, together with a high-chair and a baby bath. Although spacious, unfortunately Le Bousquet is not classed as accessible for the handicapped as there are three steps on the entrance to the property.
Outside there is a fully enclosed garden with stunning salt-water heated pool (available for bookings from May to the end of September and heated in High and Peak seasons) and south facing raised terrace with dining table seating 14. Under the deck is a covered seating area with outside furniture, coffee tables and a gas BBQ. At the side of the house is a west facing patio with dining table seating 8 and access to the kitchenette. Parasols and sun loungers are also provided.
In the garden there is a children's play area with swings, a rotary washing line and ample parking for up to 4 cars on the drive.
The property has external security cameras which are used when the cottage is unoccupied. One of the cameras covers the rear of the cottage and has coverage of the swimming pool however this camera is turned away and not used during periods when there are guests at the property.

The property was the best we have ever stayed at - everything you could think of was there - even a pestle and mortar. The pool was fantastic. There is so much space at the house and it is set in lovely countryside. The river canoe trip was super.

By David Smart on 18-Aug-2022If you are looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing, with beautiful views yet only 30 minutes from picturesque villages and activities for the children, look no further than Le Bousquet. For my wife and I the outstanding features of this beautiful farmhouse have to be the quiet location with stunning views, and the pool. The boys of course loved the pool but also the cool downstairs lounge and games room. We all agree the pool is one of the best we have visited. It is a real luxury that the pool heated and with underwater lights that come on at dusk, there were many nights when come 10pm we were still splashing around having family fun or just floating around looking at the amazing stars. Something else Karen has put a lot of thought into is her guide to the local area with information ranging from where the most stunning views are, to local market days and things to do with the kids. We didn’t want to drive too far but within a 30 minute radius there were numerous places to visit and we explored some beautiful villages and had some truly delicious lunches out (Le Prieure in Carennac is a must). For the kids a few hours canoeing down the Dordogne was a great adventure, there is a waterpark close-by and who doesn’t love a ride in the steam train at Martel. I really can’t recommend Le Bousquet highly enough and I suppose the greatest plaudit we can give is to say we loved the whole experience so much we have already booked again for next year – we can’t wait to return!
