The owners live on site at the rear of the house and help for any requirement if necessary and daily pool cleaning.Entrance into the gite is situated at the front of the house overlooking orchards of prune trees which is ideal for dog's walking. The accommodation consists of :

All bedrooms have cooling celling fans. The gite is WIFI friendly and the access to the garden, the pool and the terraces is via a side gate alongside the house.
OUTSIDE The garden has two terraces and a pool.
One terrace overlooking the pool with a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. Table and chairs and parasol are there for eating or drinking. At the end of the terrace is a table-tennis.
The BBQ terrace above the pool is roofed and lit for evening use. It has a summer kitchen consisting of a fridge, a sink with hot water, a cupboard with all crockery and cutlery and glasses etc... Around this terrace the garden is also lit for barmy nights.
Going down 3 steps takes you to the heated saltwater swimming pool. The size is 11,5 m x 5m with Roman end. The decking at the end of the pool has a Tonnelle which gives a shaded area for 3 sunbeds. At the other end there are 6 sunbeds and parasols. The pool is cleaned regularly by the owner and is exclusive to the use of the customers. However, the owners have the use of the pool if the customers are away from the gite.
In the village of La Sauvetat-sur-Lède (5 mn walk from the gite) there is a bar/restaurant where it is possible to buy fresh bread and a good selection of take away pizzas.
The Bastide town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot (8 kms away) is a medium size town with a good variety of shops & large supermarkets, with the river Lot flowing through the center where they organize weekly free concerts on the riverbanks. For those who like eating out, there is a large selection of restaurants to choose from. Close to Villeneuve is the beautiful village of Pujold which offers a fantastic view.
Monflanquin, one of the most stunning of the bastide towns with its hilltop location offers some very good restaurants and a large Casino supermarket open 7 days a week. This medieval village comes alive with the medieval festival where for three days in the middle of August the town is transformed back into the 12th century with jousting knights & people dressed in the clothes of the period.
Places worth visiting, Chateau Biron restored castle and Monpazier, beautiful bastide town. Beynac is also worth seeing, 1 h journey time. Some of the best canoeing on the Dordogne with stunning sceneries.
25% deposit of the total holiday cost is required for all bookings made, with the balance payable one month prior to arrival.
Please note a refundable deposit of £150 is required per booking. If the Gite has not been cleaned at the end of the holiday an amount of £50 will be retained.

Leave ReviewGreat place
By Steph on 09-Aug-2025Having just got back from a 2 week stay would highly recommend this gite for a relaxing break ..beautiful pool with added bonus of outside kitchen .As stated in description you stay at the front of the gite and enter by a side gate to get to it ...outside kitchen fully equipped with crockery cutlery etc and sink with hot running water so no need to carry it back to gite as suggested in a previous comment ...I think comments made by occupant before us was very negative .. Bruce and Anne very friendly and helpful
Lovely place - great pool
By JerseyCrew on 26-Jul-2025Spent a lovely week with Bruce and Anna in their lovely accommodation. Three great sized bedrooms with 3 shower rooms - unheard of! Perfectly adequate for our group of 4. Clean and comfortable. Lovely heated pool - walk down steps and deep enough for our energetic teenagers to dive into without fear of hitting the bottom. Bruce and Anna were incredibly helpful in all things - our car broke down whilst there and could not have been more helpful. It had a great covered BBQ area - I wished I had used it but we had fallen in love with an amazing burger bar within short walking distance, recommended by Bruce. Fantastic value for money and perfectly situated for exploring the less trodden path and away from the throngs of the Dordogne - but only 90 minutes away from that compulsory canoe adventure!
fantastic …..again
By The Milner family on 05-Jul-2025This was our second year staying here and we will be returning again in the future. The most idyllic setting. The salt water pool is immaculately tended by Bruce and offers the most peaceful and relaxing area to swim and cool off. The barbecue area is covered and has lovely lighting for a summer evening, but also has all the crockery and cutlery you might need, along with a sink and a fridge so there is no need to return to the house. The kitchen in the house, whilst small, has everything you could need including a dishwasher. The house remains cool even on a hot day as the thick stone walls keep it a perfect temperature. There is plenty of space in the three bedrooms and bathrooms, and the living/dining area is comfy and bright. The whole house is exceptionally clean with comfy beds. The house is at the end of a small drive in a residential village, very quiet and safe with easy parking. Bruce and Anne are friendly and helpful, recommending various places to visit locally, whilst ensuring you have complete privacy in all areas of the property and pool area. We enjoyed several trips out this year, a highlight being a day canoeing on the Dordogne. Just lovely and will definitely be back for a third visit with our children.
Overall Disappointed
By David Duncan on 02-Aug-2025Regrettably we did not read the review by Tracy Webster dated 4/9/22 before booking this gite. We concur with all the remarks in that review. Although the website says that the owners live on site at the rear of the property it does not suggest that they impinging on the guests’ privacy. In reality one of the guest terraces is directly outside the owner’s living room window and all the windows in the pictures on the website show the owner’s living spaces. The guests have no view of the pool from their accommodation at the front of the house and the pool area is overlooked by the owner’s part of the house. The owners were friendly enough but their daily life continued during our stay including hanging out their washing and walking through the pool area to get to their car. The covered summer kitchen area was a breeding ground for mosquitos and although we very much liked the BBQ setup, the traipsing back and forward to the kitchen with dishes was less appealing. We used the other terrace more frequently to avoid the mosquitos despite the lack of privacy. The narrow indoor galley kitchen included an old gas cooker and a dishwasher but there were no instructions for use and the oven was difficult to regulate as the markings had worn off the switches. Furthermore two people in the kitchen was a crowd ! The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and clean but you could hear the owners talking through locked internal doors. To get to the pool area you have exit the front door, onto the road at the side of the property and then enter a gate at the side of the garden and with 5 adults but only one key for the door at the front of the property we opted not to lock the door to facilitate our comings and goings to the kitchen, toilet etc. We didn’t consider that the security was ideal and would have found this layout much more problematic had there been young children with us. In short despite some good points, including a good swimming pool, overall we were disappointed.
French Bliss
By Ben & Jodie on 03-Aug-2024We had an amazing 2 week stay at the beginning of August '24. Bruce and Ann were amazing hosts! No request was too much for either of them and they always ensured things ran smoothly for us and our daughters. Their knowledge of the area and recommendations for what we could do each day were first class; i.e. best markets to go to. The facilities at the house were excellent. We used the pool daily and every evening we sat outside on the undercover dining area with BBQ and kitchen facilities. This is a perfect location for anyone wanting to access nearby medieval towns and markets on day trips out. You can fully immerse yourself in the wonderful French lifestyle by staying at Bruce and Ann's property!
Excellent in every way
By Sarah and Richard on 13-Jul-2024We loved staying here, everything was perfect. The house was spotless, spacious and very well equipped. The pool, garden and bbq area just amazing. We loved it so much we have already booked again for next year. Never stayed anywhere so good and enjoyed a couple of lovely evenings with the kind and helpful owners at the night market in Monflanquin. Just wonderful to relax by the super pool and a super spot for exploring the area too. Perfect!
