Description
Seeking a chilled-out getaway? Then look no further than Petit Bernadis, a little haven of tranquility within walking distance of the historic hilltop bastide village of Monflanquin, one of France’s "plus beaux villages”. Petit Bernadis sits within the grounds of Bernadis (where your hosts, Clare and Damon live), at the end of a no-through road. The accommodation has been recently renovated, retaining the charm of the original building with a contemporary twist, and comprises an open plan modern living/dining/kitchen area, separate double bedroom and private terrace with access to a large pool, sunbathing terrace and covered summer kitchen.For the more active minded there are lovely country walks, accessible from the property, and electric bikes are available on site should you wish to explore further afield. Enjoy a range of restaurants and bars in Monflanquin, where the village comes alive with its weekly summer night markets and annual medieval festival (mid August) with parades, entertainment and period costume. Why not explore some of our delightful neighbouring bastide villages, including Villereal, Monpazier and Pujols? Or venture a little further and take a boat trip/kayak along the beautiful Dordogne or discover the many vineyards dotted around our beautiful area.
We are 5 mins drive away from a large Auchan supermarket (open 7 days a week) and 45 mins away from Bergerac Airport (pick up/drop off can be arranged for an additional charge). Toulouse and Bordeaux Airports are within a couple of hours’ drive and, from Calais, Roscoff or Cherbourg, it’s a 9 hour drive.

By Alastair and Stephanie on 23-Aug-2025We had a lovely week at the quirky but comfortable Petit Bernadis. Lovely to have a great outdoor area by the house and the pool is superb. The gite is close to the beautiful bastide Monflanquin, which is a real joy – history, authenticity, amazing views, good restaurants and cafes, lovely shops, and very friendly people – and the wider area is full of places to visit (Monpazier, Chateau de Biron, Issigeac, Villeareal, and plenty more). All in all, a beautiful and peaceful part of France. Special mention for our hosts, Clare and Damon, who made us very welcome and ensured everything was going well.
A great place to stay
By Sharon Dick on 30-Aug-2025What a fabulous Gem in the French Countryside. The Gite it so quaint, well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The pool was such a dream, so peaceful and clean. Damon and Claire were super Hosts, they were there if we needed any help, very informative, they thought of everything. It's a 15 mins walk in to Monflanquin which is a beautiful medieval town with many places to eat. We will definitely be staying here again Regards Sharon and James
Wedding / Holiday Stay

The hosts Clare & Damon were very welcoming and helpful explaining the layout and pool rules. Very peaceful location with easy access to town and supermarket, a short walk or ride on their electric bikes provided. Gite was perfect for 2 adults with handy kitchen, great shower and gas BBQ with outside seating to enjoy. All towels even for pool were provided. They also have a larger outside eating area with lighting if prefer or late night card games with relaxing drinks. Clare can speak fluent French which was helpful when ordering a taxi and restaurant over the phone and they were both on hand for any enquiries. Damon cleaned pool area every morning ready for guests. A perfect stay, peaceful and total relaxation. Property was around 35 mins from Bergerac airport..a straight easy run in a car.Both Gites have plenty of parking spaces.
Fantastic place to stay
By Neil & Angie Williams on 15-Jul-2025We had a wonderful time at Petit Bernadis it was everything we hoped it would be ,the Gite is very well equipped and the pool and area around the pool is a delight, Clare & Damon are fantastic hosts and really helped make our ten days very relaxing ,the lovely village of Monflanquin is a sort stroll away with every thing you need and the evening market is not to be missed ,will be hoping to stay there again .
