Leave ReviewA really lovely property in a charming area
By Mark Porter on 02-Aug-2025We have now stayed at No 22 twice and plan to return next year. The property is spacious and comfortable in a quiet village. We really appreciated and enjoyed the tranquility it offers with great amenities. The house is charming and well appointed with all amenities to self cater really comfortably. The garden is enclosed and private offering a safe space for children. The indoor pool is invaluable to cool off in the heat but also to relax and play. There is also a boule track within the garden and good quality bbq facilities. Beds are comfortable with fans in each room if the nights are sticky. The surrounding area is very pleasant agricultural land with vineyards and sunflowers aplenty in August. There are plenty of really good places to eat out within a short drive, where the people are invariably very friendly and helpful. Paul and Carolyn are excellent hosts, available when needed and full of local knowledge if you ask. They won’t intrude on your holiday uninvited though. If you want to cycle there are many back roads to explore and Cognac is a 20 minute ish drive. You can have an outdoorsy active time or relax at home as the accommodation is a real delight.
Wonderful family holiday
By Patricia Timms on 19-Jul-2025We really enjoyed our 2 week stay. The house is lovely, very spacious and well equipped. The pool was a great hit with the children and we were able to use it in all weathers. We spent a lot of time in the garden which has both sunny and shady areas and is a lovely place to relax. Thank you again to our hosts!

Lovely comfortable gite
By Lynn Webb on 28-Jun-2025We loved staying here in this gite. It was extremely well equipped and comfortable. The swimming pool is amazing. Paul and Carolyn could not be more helpful giving tips on where to go, best places to eat, even booking a restaurant for the first night of our stay which was fantastic. Beautiful garden full of lovely butterflies and watching the bats flying around every night was something to remember. We would love to go back.
Gorgeous French farmhouse
By Jen Powell on 17-Aug-2024We were blown away by this house and had a wonderful holiday there with our three young adult children. The photos don’t do it justice, it’s so comfortable and spacious with nothing lacking in any way. For us the highlight was the garden - private and quiet, with two dining spaces, one under sail shades, one by a tree. And of course we used the beautiful pool every day to cool down during the lovely long hot days we had. Paul and Carolyn themselves were unfailingly helpful and welcoming while being completely unobtrusive. Their tips about restaurants and parking spots were excellent. We are already thinking about a return visit!

Thank you so much Jen. It was a pleasure to have you stay.
A warm and inviting staying in a picturesque home
By Georgia on 21-Oct-2023Our group of six - including two children of 6 and 10 had a an wonderful stay at Paul and Carolyn's country side retreat in October The house is beautiful with an abundance of french character and appeal, it felt like a real home with attention to detail such as artwork that represents the local area. Creature comforts are a plenty in terms of coziness and soft furnishings down to the bathrobes that awaited us for the immaculate indoor pool. Every convenience that could possibly be needed for a family staying and self catering was provided and in the kitchen! The welcome basket was also a thoughtful and lovely touch. Sadly the weather was not our friend, but actually that did not hamper our stay at all as the children adored spending every moment possible in the heated pool. The house is well located as it has many local towns surrounding which are delightful for a potter and in warmer months there are many outdoor activities available. The house is also well positioned for going slightly further afield. Carolyn and Paul are both very knowledgable reference good places to eat in the area and also for lovely places to visit too! We will definitely be back!!! Many thanks to Carolyn and Paul our generous, friendly and helpful hosts, for our wonderful stay!!!
