In a wonderfully secluded location, this historic 17 Century thatched cottage is perfect for any couple's break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life As you step through the low front doorway and enter this beautiful cottage you will find a living/dining area with a high wooden beamed ceiling and huge inglenook fireplace containing a wood burning stove which supplements the central heating. There is a sofa and chair in front of the fireplace which invite you to spend warm cosy nights in front of the TV. The gallery-style kitchen and utility area are very well-equipped with exposed stone features adding even more character. The king-size bedroom is spacious and bright under the vaulted ceiling with plenty of natural light and views towards the delightful garden and scenery beyond. The Old Cottage comes with well-kept front and rear lawns together with a versatile rear gravelled area with a table and chairs overlooking the surrounding countryside towards the Clee Hills which is a perfect spot to enjoy the morning sunrise or evening sunset. Your dog will love the Old Cottage as they can wander perfectly safely round the fully enclosed rear garden and enjoy lots of varied walks in the area. Ludlow and the surrounding Shropshire Hills are close with Shrewsbury, historic Ironbridge and Church Stretton a short drive. After a few days at the Old Cottage you will leave relaxed and fully refreshed.

Thw Beautiful Old Thatched Cottage

By Teresa Simpson on 27-Jun-2022

This is an absolutely amazing little gem of a cottage, set in a beautiful, tranquil setting . It has a secluded private garden you can only dream of with spectacular views that are never ending of the Shropshire hills. Only the sound of bird's song to wake up you up in the mornings. Sheep and cows are so close you can touch them. We have found a place to be next to nature with lots of walks in farmland and country lanes with barely any traffic around. We have stayed here four times now and booked for 2023 along with our dog, who is so at home in the private well maintained safe gardens with beautiful plants. Sunbeds with a garden table and seating area with parasol are provided, where you can sit and see spectacular sun sets. The Cottage kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to cater for your stay and things you didn't think you would because the very welcoming host, Denise and Malcolm and of course not forgetting their Cocker Spaniel Kooki have thought of everything you may need, especially the wonderful complimentary welcome pack with little treats like cake, & wine with plenty of the essentials to get your stay of to a perfect start, even your four legged friend gets spoilt here with treats too. The bed is so comfortable, the bedroom has lots of storage, a dressing table and mirror, hair dryer is available. There is the magnificent feature stone fireplace with log burner and complementary logs are in abundance. Bathroom has underfoot heating with everything you need. You will not be disappointed with this property.

Magical and warming.

By Robert & Ann on 11-Jun-2022

Host’s Denise and Malcom were very friendly, so too was kookie the lovable cocker spaniel. The cottage was very clean and well thought out for everything we needed, as for the bed….the comfiest we have slept in on our holidays. We were very lucky as the weather was fantastic 34 deg one day but even stopping at the cottage with our 2 dogs we had plenty of shade and the garden was fantastic., very dog friendly and well secured all round. The cottage itself is wonderful, smaller than we thought from the photos but never the less beautiful. The views from the cottage are breathtaking, as is the wildlife, we saw a red fox within hours of arriving, buzzards galore and even the local baby woodpeckers visited the garden. A fantastic place to stay if you need to recharge, Ludlow is beautiful and only 3 miles away.
