Overview
Description
In a wonderfully secluded location, this historic 17 Century thatched cottage is perfect for any couple's break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life As you step through the low front doorway and enter this beautiful cottage you will find a living/dining area with a high wooden beamed ceiling and huge inglenook fireplace containing a wood burning stove which supplements the central heating. There is a sofa and chair in front of the fireplace which invite you to spend warm cosy nights in front of the TV. The gallery-style kitchen and utility area are very well-equipped with exposed stone features adding even more character. The king-size bedroom is spacious and bright under the vaulted ceiling with plenty of natural light and views towards the delightful garden and scenery beyond. The Old Cottage comes with well-kept front and rear lawns together with a versatile rear gravelled area with a table and chairs overlooking the surrounding countryside towards the Clee Hills which is a perfect spot to enjoy the morning sunrise or evening sunset. Your dog will love the Old Cottage as they can wander perfectly safely round the fully enclosed rear garden and enjoy lots of varied walks in the area. Ludlow and the surrounding Shropshire Hills are close with Shrewsbury, historic Ironbridge and Church Stretton a short drive. After a few days at the Old Cottage you will leave relaxed and fully refreshed.22 Reviews
Leave ReviewA fantastic place to stay
By Cheryl & Donna on 12-Nov-2025This is our second visit to the cottage and it is an absolutely gorgeous place. It has everything you could possibly need and it is also dog friendly. The cottage is situated in a beautiful setting and is really warm and cozy with a log burner. There is an enclosed garden for your dog with a beautiful view. Malcolm & Denise are really lovely hosts and very accommodating, nothing is to much trouble for them. We are looking to book again for next year as we love it so much. We highly recommend this cottage and can assure you would not be disappointed.

Good accommodation
By Gareth Hopkins on 02-Nov-2025We had a wonderful time cosy and warm
We and our dogs couldn't have been made to feel more welcome.!
By Paul Mitchell on 05-Sep-2025This cottage is everything it's cracked up to be. Comfortable and atmospheric, it is the perfect country retreat. Well equipped and with your every need catered for. Although the garden is small it is totally enclosed so that the dogs were perfectly safe to wander about. The views are just stunning. Denise and Malcolm are the perfect hosts, attentive without being obtrusive, they gave us a very warm welcome and nothing was too much bother. Their dogs, Duggie and Kooki, were also very attentive and made sure our dogs were fully entertained! All in all we had a perfect stay and would certainly book it again in the future.
Christmas at The Old Cottage Ludlow
By Wendy Collier on 21-Dec-2024Booking a cottage for a winter break is always a risk.....will it be warm enough? Is it well equipped Has it got a comfy bed? Is there a good shower & plenty of hot water? Etc The Old cottage far exceeded our expectations & the owners who lived next door were lovely, there was even a lovely fire already lit which was much appreciated. We have already booked for June where we hope to sit outside in the sunshine with a glass of wine & take in the incredible view.
Unbelievably comfortable
By Ian & Wendy on 31-Oct-2024We think you have to stay at this historic cottage to appreciate just how comfortable it is! This is our second visit and, though the weather has been overcast and misty, the autumn colours have brightened up our stay and it has been so restful and warm. Thank you again to Denise and Malcolm for tasty treats on our arrival… the time has sped by and we are refreshed.
