Overview
Description
Fal River Cottage is a comfortable, dog-friendly holiday cottage just outside Truro with amazing views over the Roseland Peninsula and the confluence of three rivers.Nestled in a peaceful, stunning riverside setting, where everyday worries become a distant dream. Wake up to the amazing river view and have your breakfast on the front decking listening to the birds and watching the rise and ebb of the tide. Lose yourself on the footpaths following the course of the river, discover ancient forests and villages of Cornwall, or venture downriver on a boat. Have a spot of lunch at the fantastic local three doors away and then retreat with a book and a cup of tea to the comfort of your own back garden. Soak up the glorious scenery around you, let it all slip away with the retreating tide, and just be...
Make Fal River Cottage your home away from home for a while and all this may just become reality. This charming, traditional, dog-friendly Cornish cottage far from the madding crowd sleeps three over two bedrooms and benefits from the most amazing river views. It is a perfect escape for “just the two of you” and a haven for that romantic break you have been promising yourself. Based in Malpas near Truro, it is just three doors down from the popular Heron Inn and two miles away from the bright city lights of the Cornish capital should you tire of the tranquil surroundings. The cottage itself dates to the 1800's and was tastefully renovated in 2019, offering traditional features alongside modern-living luxuries.
Malpas
The village of Malpas is a former vibrant river port which connected Truro to the Roseland Peninsula via a local ferry service. This village is based on the confluence of the Tresillian and Truro rivers in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Fal River Estuary, which is also known as Carrick Roads (Cornish Dowr Carrek, meaning "rock anchorage"). The area around Malpas is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Its extensive mudflats are an important feeding ground for wildfowl and wading birds, whereas trees on the riverbanks provide shelter for nesting herons.
The village is also just outside the boundary of the Duchy of Cornwall estate on the banks of the Tresillian. There is an abundance of beautiful walks along the river to choose from, as well as boat tours that depart from Malpas to Trelissick and on to Falmouth. Due to its vicinity to Truro, Malpas also has excellent road and rail connections across Cornwall and is within driving distance of many beautiful beaches, National Trust properties and the charming towns and villages, which Cornwall is famous for.

Leave ReviewI challenge anyone to find a better view, location and space for the price in Cornwall.
By Dan on 28-Aug-2024I challenge anyone to find a better view, location and space for the price in Cornwall. Phil's place is gem. Only a mile and half from Truro but you wouldn't know it. pub 2 doors down is a game changer. Also worth exploring down at the Quay as beside the farm shop and excellent coffee there are ferries and excursions which mean you can explore the Peninsula without even getting back in your car. Highly recommended

A peaceful short break away in a lovely, homely cottage
By Jessica on 28-Oct-2024A peaceful short break away in a lovely, homely cottage. Shame the weather wasn’t quite as lovely so we couldn’t make the most of the outside space.
Stunning property with amazing river views
By Shaun on 12-Nov-2024Stunning property with amazing river views, excellent nearby pub and within walking distance to Truro. Very responsive and helpful host with really clear instructions and a wonderful welcome pack (very generous with the fire wood as well!). Excellent location in terms of getting to some of Cornwall's top tourist sites (half an hour drive to Newquay, Lanhydrock etc). Definitely on our list to revisit. Many thanks Phillip
