Just one hour's drive from the port of Cherbourg, this comfortable countryside property is situated in the Parc Naturel Marais du Cotentin near the picturesque village of Gorges with its shop and bar and is within easy distance of the D Day beaches and for day trips to Mont St Michel and Bayeux. It sleeps 6 + with a one king size bedroom and en suite bathroom, one standard double bedroom and one twin bedroom, plus additional family bathroom & loo upstairs and an extra wc downstairs. The farmhouse style kitchen is fully equipped with easy dining for 6 or more and there is a further ground-floor bathroom/utility room with washing machine and dryer. The living room is very big with French windows, log burning fire, Freesat television and additional dining area. We even have a rocking chair! The property is tastefully decorated throughout with art and books.

Outside there are extensive private gardens front and back with views over the fields, a large courtyard for al fresco eating, with a further bbq area through the archway with seating, a firepit at the top of the lawn and tree swings, as well as parking for 3 cars on a private drive. There are body-boards to borrow so that guests can take full advantage of the fantastic beaches 20 mins away in each direction, such as Pirou with its unique maritime swimming pool and the wild and beautiful shore at Créances. It is natural cycling country with miles of empty lanes and many woodland and coastal cycle paths. Visit the local markets for a splendid array of produce including shellfish, salads, cheese and cider or spend time at the various chateaux and abbeys at Lessay, Pirou and Coutances, as well as at the historic town of Carentan, the real life setting for Band of Brothers.

A travel cot and high chair is available on request, Wifi and linen is included in the price and we welcome well behaved pets with prior notice. The Normandie Nest is perfect for a peaceful break as well as an adventurous one.

Absolutely great stay would highly recommend

By Fiona & Sean on 12-Sep-2022

This was our first experience staying in France and it was great from the get go! Justine was lovely and was so informative in her emails and could not do enough nor could her close neighbours Debbie and Bob and their lovely dogs. The house was gorgeous on its own plot and so private; we loved the old trees out the front with the swings great for big people that never grew up! There was so much room in the house with a large sitting room and a big kitchen area; a downstairs loo and utility room; washing line outside so pack light; great large bedrooms upstairs; we were in the big bedroom with a shower and loo; there was also another separate big bathroom for upstairs with the other bedrooms. We loved our time here; we sat outside and chilled with a lovely vino or two with the warm weather; our dogs absolutely loved it; we took them for a walk early in the morning and evening and the roads were very quiet around the house; the neighbours had a goose that was the "guard dog" for the 3 sheep in the field; absolutely class to see; this goose would honk at us in the morning going past and coming home. The beaches were only a short trip in the car; gorgeous; lovely village nearby you could walk too and big supermarkets and boulangeries not too far in the car as one cannot have a coffee without an eclair or two!! We would thoroughly recommend this house; so much to do in the area, cycling, walking, beaches, so much nature; lots of eateries; lovely people...It was a great first impression to a holiday in Normadie France; we will be back to this lovely bolthole and look forward to same; you will not be disappointed staying here; the only thing is saying goodbye.....
