Description

Wheatsheaf Barn was built in 1715 and carefully restored by the owners in 2011 to create a stylish contemporary interior within the original fabric, using quality oak joinery and luxury fittings. The 60 foot open plan living area offers very spacious accommodation with a dramatic double height area. A feature of the property is the upstairs landing sitting room with its folding doors opening onto the outside balcony and views over the river. This is a lovely space with its views and -when the weather is warm enough- the folding doors wide-open.

Upstairs, at one end of the barn, is a very large bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The bed in this room can be set up as a super king, or two singles. At the other end is a double bedded room and a room with two single beds, sharing another bathroom. Both bathrooms have separate shower enclosures and jacuzzi baths. There is room for a cot which we can provide. Upstairs there is also a small laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer. The upstairs landing has a settee which can convert to to a bed for short term use. The downstairs of the Barn is open plan, including the kitchen. Guests enjoy this as there is ample room for everyone to be together without being on top of each other. There is plenty of room in the kitchen area for several people to be cooking together.

The large table seats eight easily and with extra chairs up to about fourteen. Adjacent to the kitchen, behind double doors, is another downstairs room with two single sofa beds. Beyond this room is another shower room and boot room with access to the field behind the property and wood store.

The house is ideal for a family gathering. We do not mind your family party having extra guests during the day. We welcome hen parties, although my cleaner is less enthusiastic about the glitter left behind!! We love having weddings leave from here- see our Facebook page for our stunning brides!!!

We are a very low key operation: this is the only let that we have. We try to be a flexible as we possibly can and give guests what they need. For example our weekend lets are forty eight hours- from teatime on the Friday to late afternoon on Sunday- we won't be hurrying you out before you finish your breakfast.

We keep a small flock of sheep which is usually in the field behind the house: please don't come to us if you are uneasy about being around livestock because there is no where else for them to go. On the other hand, you are welcome to join in at feeding and lambing times.

The most wonderful delightful holiday house

By Sarah Halpern on 15-Aug-2022

From the minute we arrived until we left, we had an amazing experience. The house with loads of space, the outdoor yard and patio, the best flock of sheep ever (especially Dolly), the most attentive owners next door always ready to help out as needed, the exciting feeding times with the sheep, ........ The list could go on and on! Looking forward to come back again in the future. Thank you!

Great Space With Loads of Atmosphere

By Dan on 10-Jun-2021

I’ve visited the Barn several times now with both friends and family. It is set in a beautiful location, a short walk from the beach. There is plenty of room for all with a large, well equipped kitchen, multiple bathrooms, decent WiFi and two large TV’s. My favourite feature is the log burner which brings real atmosphere to the main living area in autumn/winter. In Spring/Summer the bifold doors on the first floor give you a fantastic view over the fields to the Sea. Also worth noting are the sheep in the neighbouring field who were a real hit with the kids!
