An Absolute Gem
By DM on 12-Apr-2023We had the Gardeners Cottage over the Easter and what an absolute gem. A really lovely clean comfortable dog friendly cottage that has been finished off to very high standard in a beautiful quiet valley. The facilities in the cottage leave you wanting for nothing more. Just perfect for a relaxing stay on Exmoor or in our case a walking weekend. We will definitely be booking the cottage again
An Amazing Place
By Shane on 08-Jan-2023Stayed dec/Jan 22/23 Arrived at gardeners cottage via the winding lanes and what an amazing place it is , lovely cozy lounge with a wood burner with plenty of wood available, fully stocked modern kitchen, super comfy zip and link beds, so huge when connected , massive bathroom with walk in shower , it was spotlessly clean , Loads of walking straight out the door and the pub ( hunters inn) is down a very steep road ( I was blowing on the way back up) Mustn’t forget the amazing welcome pack ( best I’ve had) both my wife and I are vegan and most bits in it were vegan all in all a fabulous place and very very peaceful , loved it 10/10

Peaceful Cottage with only the sound of birds-song
By Oldenglishgarden on 02-Jun-2020We arrived at the cottage to find a comfortable peaceful retreat ideal for my daughter and myself as the comfortable beds could be split. It was a home-from- home holiday property with fantastic views over Heddon Valley. We were surprised with how well equipped it was and was also spotlessly clean on arrival. There was the use of washing and drying facilities at no extra charge along with a secure garden for our two small dogs. Also a dishwasher and a parking area for each of the cottages. There is a National Trust at the bottom of the hill where we enjoyed a circular walking route of the valley. We couldn't have asked for more and can't recommend it enough. Thank you to the owners James and Alan for making this a dog friendly accommodation. A trip to Mortehoe is a good recommendation and the views of Woody Bay. Also lots of information was provided at the cottage as an inspiration for days out.
Ideal Stay in Exmoor!
By Jot422016 on 16-May-2021We loved our stay at the cottage which felt like a home-away-from-home for us and our two small dogs. From the spacious and clean accommodation to the fully equipped kitchen, large bathroom with a fantastic shower, and cosy lounge, it was the perfect place to unwind, enjoy far-reaching views and listen to birdsong. Truly a hideaway off the beaten track, the cottage offers a number of wonderful walks right from the doorstep as well as beautiful places to explore in the vicinity, such as Lynmouth and Woolecombe beach. We can’t wait to return to the area and stay at James and Alan’s cottage again.
