We stayed here with our 3 children and had a marvellous 2 weeks, the children could run free in the huge wooded garden whilst we sat and relaxed on the verandah or by the pool with a glass of local wine. The pool is alarmed for peace of mind meaning we could properly switch off and enjoy the house and its surroundings. The house is totally secluded and situated on a quiet lane yet its easy to get around, for shopping and sight seeing. It is super well equipped and comfortable without being fussy, and has lots of space for everyone to enjoy. We loved the fact it is not pretentious or a show home and we didn't have to be paranoid about kids running in with wet feet from the pool although we discouraged it! The grounds are stunning and we loved seeing an abundance of wild life, from lizards, grass snakes, glow worms and dormice, and star gazing at night was also amazing! We also loved the lake swimming at St. Estephe, and river swimming in Brantome. Facilities in France are just brilliant, free parking and the lakes have decent toilet facilities and cafes, lots of life guards and even free kayaks. You can stay all day without having to spend any money... such a difference from the UK! Claire has created a beautiful, authentic and fun home in France with everything you need, and Teri was on hand to help with everything from where to get the best bread to how to get an emergency doctor appointment (nothing serious thankfully!). Thank you for a wonderful 2 weeks and we look forward to visiting again!
We spent two weeks at La Vigne and really enjoyed our stay. The big selling point for our family was the outdoor space. The pool is a decent size, clean and pleasingly deep at one end. There is plenty of room to spread out across the garden - with space at the bottom end for some competitive frisbee! The surrounding area is woodland - it is peaceful and remote and we spent plenty of time bike riding around really quiet roads. The house itself is quite quirky in layout and looks a little like it is being reclaimed by nature at one side. The washing machine and tumble dryer as well as two fridge freezers were luxury items for a family used to camping. There was plenty of space in the garage area to store bikes and roofbox.
We returned to this property for the second year and despite the weather not being as good as last year, we still loved everything that La Vigne has to offer, from the practical, well-equipped house and the huge swimming pool and gardens to the super quiet and secluded, yet close to amenities, location. We love La Vigne so much that we have already booked next year’s stay!
