In the summer the pool is the focus of the property. It is large 12 m x 6 m and chlorine - free as it operates with a RO/DI type system plus it cleans itself automatically during the early hours of the morning.
The pool is in full view of the covered back terrace that is draped with Virginia creeper - making it easy to watch the children and enjoying the shade if that is your pleasure. Cushioned lounge chairs are provided to make your sunbathing most relaxing! In the late evenings the underwater sidelights provide a warm glow for even more hours of enjoyment. It is located in the centre of a large rear garden (~5,000 M2). A small side garden has a herb garden and fruit trees plus laundry line for air drying towel and bathing suits.
"LaVigne" is our home 10 - 12 weeks of the year and we have equipped the house to a high standard - not only for you our guest as well as for our personal enjoyment. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, ample fridge-freezer, cooker with induction hobs and a convection oven. We are always adding to the culinary tools to cater to all your cooking requirements.
There is a separate laundry room with washer and tumble dryer, extra fridge as well as store area for dried goods.
One note - linen is provided but we do ask that your provide bath and sunbathing towels as it is most difficult to keep them to a high standard when sunbathing oil, creams etc. are being used. We do ask for your understanding of this one restriction.
The lounge is the off-season focus of the house. We have provided a wide array of books and a CD music system (please bring your favourites) for those lazy hours of reading a good book and listening to your favourite music. The French doors in the front of the house give this area a light and airy feeling; closing the glass doors to the large family room transforms it from an airy summer house to a snug winter cottage. The wood burning stove not only provides charm but also gives off hours of abundant heat. Some of our favourite times are the autumn and post Christmas period with crisp mornings and sun filled days followed by evenings of wine enhanced dining followed by relaxing with a good book by the crackling stove.

Leave ReviewRelaxing Retreat
By Karen Cole on 02-Aug-2025We stayed for a week at La Vigne and had the most relaxing time — lounging by the fabulous pool, strolling along peaceful country lanes, and simply unwinding. La Vigne is a spacious retreat with beautiful gardens, well-equipped with everything you might need, including a washing machine and tumble dryer. We enjoyed our stay so much that we’ve already booked to come back next year!
Kept busy doing nothing
By Nick and Family on 12-Jul-2025We wanted wo weeks to spend time together as a family, to be able to read, swim, walk, talk, eat, drink, play games eat out, canoe, and equally nothing. We got all we wanted, a big pool, a lovely veranda, peace, quiet, spacious grounds, no immediate neighbours, and beautiful towns and villages a short drive away that provided everything we wanted.
Idyllic place
By Jacquie and Jeff Noon on 28-Jun-2025We have just returned from our 2 week holiday at La Vigne and what a wonderful time we had, it was so good that we have booked again for next year. A very comfortable gite with everything you need to enjoy your stay. It’s in a fantastic peaceful location with only the sound of the birds and crickets and occasionally a vehicle passing by. The pool was the best ever as it’s self cleaning we were left to enjoy our time around it without being disturbed by someone coming twice weekly to clean it. There’s some fantastic walks all around and La Ferme du Lac is a must visit for a meal out. There’s a couple of Intermarches close to La Vigne, which can be called at before arriving thus saving on trips out during the week 😉.
Idyllic haven
By Jacquie & Jeff Noon on 28-Jun-2025We have just returned from the most fantastic 2 weeks holiday at La Vigne. In fact it’s so wonderful that we’ve already booked for next year. It’s in a perfect spot, on a very quiet road with just the sound of the birds, so tranquil and in a great location to take a bike ride or a walk around the many country lanes and paths. The pool was amazing and it was much appreciated that it was self cleaning which meant we weren’t disturbed by anyone having to come twice a week to clean it. The property was very comfortable and equipped with everything that we needed. There’s a well stocked Intermarche close by and a Super U in Nontron for those little extras. We also visited a lovely restaurant, run by an English couple, La Ferme du Lac it’s well worth a visit. What more can I say, loved it!
Ideal for short getaway
By Bruno Namaseevayum on 31-May-2025Thoroughly enjoyable stay in the middle of a woodland setting with a private pool, ideal for a getaway. Spent the days cycling and walking with the dogs (lots of little quiet country lanes) with a supermarket less than a 10 minute drive away that was stocked with so much variety it puts the ones in the UK to shame. There is a small village just past the supermarket with a number of restaurants for eating out. It’s a lovely part of the world as long as you are not expecting to go major brand marquee shopping. Would thoroughly recommend it as a getaway.
A very peaceful holiday in a beautiful location
By Jenny Poulton on 14-Sep-2024La Vigne is a big house set in a very peaceful setting down a small road. There was plenty of room for our two cars just outside the property. The very large, well kept garden with lots of trees, was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet and listening to the birds. There is woodland all around the garden and we saw all sorts of wildlife; deer, a fox, geckos, frogs and even salamanders. The large pool was clean, a bit cold for us due to when we visited, but we used it several times. The house was comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed having our meals and playing cards around the large dining table in the large main living room. The wood burner there came in handy because the evenings were cool when we stayed. We visited the very large market at Piegut-Pleuviers twice, loads of stalls and lots to tempt us. It's an interesting little town with shops and a supermarket that sells fuel and it's not very far away. Fishing was available at Le lac de St Mathieu, not far from La Vigne. We bought day permits at the Tabac in St Mathieu. Also at the lake was La Grange du Lac, run by an English lady. We ate there twice and it was very good and reasonably priced. We would love to go back to La Vigne again one day.
