The fascination with Mevagissey can only be understood with a visit here. Its narrow streets (where you'll find the cottage) allow the unique character of this quiet fishing village to live on. The fishermen are still here, hauling in their catch at the end of the day. You too can go fishing on one of the deep-sea angling trips that are available from the quay or short mackerel fishing trips in the bay. Mevagissey is a great base for a walking holiday with the Cornish coastal path passing right through the village.

There is also the Mevagissey to Fowey ferry, which runs most days in the summer months.

*FOOD* - Enjoy a famous Cornish pasty, many outlets sell them in the village, but Mary's on the harbour are superb! Apart from the many pubs & restaurants, Mevagissey also has numerous great street food Fish kiosks on the harbour.

Close to the village are several other smaller villages incl. Gorran Haven and Pentewan. Mevagissey is right on the doorstep of the renowned Heligan Gardens and Eden Project.

For the keen golfer Mevagissey is centrally placed to reach many excellent courses and very close by are Carolyn Bay, St Austell, Lostwithiel & Porthpean. Within 30-45 mins drive you can reach Llanhydrock, St Enodoc, Trevose, Bowood, St Mellion, Looe, Newquay, Perranporth and Truro.

Notes on accommodation:
The cottage has no parking spaces but it is possible to park outside in order to unload and there are two public car parks within a short walking distance from the cottage (Including 'Willow' & 'Sunny Corner' car parks, weekly tickets can to be obtained from Willow for approx £40 and daily £6.

The electic is operated on £1 coin meter & uses approx £15 to £20 per week.

Myself and partner stayed at Erin Cottage for my birthday 14th-21st June 2025, it had all the amenities described. Location was fantastic,

I’m very fortunate that I love seagulls as they’d made their home practically outside the door. We saw that a pair of them had 3 baby seagulls which were often on the narrow road outside, so we were having to move them into the church garden to help keep them safe. The noise from the gulls usually 20 hours a day is incredible, but didn’t bother me one bit, as I love them, and still managed to sleep soundly. The cottage was cosy and comfortable, but there was a very strange smell in the kitchen. We thought maybe it was the result of a floor cleaning product, as the floor was very slippy. Although we tried to wipe it down ourselves, we never got rid of the smell unfortunately. The cottage stated free WiFi, but we couldn’t get a connection, and after several conversations with one of the owners, who like us was at a loss as to why this should be. He tried a couple of times to get an engineer out, initially without success, my partner in the end had to purchase a top up card for £40 as he had managed to locate an EE hotspot. The owner we’d had conversations with admitted that the WiFi hadn’t worked for several weeks. On the Wednesday, an engineer finally came and fitted a new router as the previous one was broken. Our holiday was spoilt in some respects because of the WiFi, as we always plan many days out, at the end of which my partner always uploads his photographs, and I upload my videos onto our channel. We both expected a refund of the £40 we spent trying to get WiFi to be offered as a goodwill gesture, but none was forthcoming.

Lovely cottage in the centre of the village

We stayed for an off season break and Erin cottage was perfect. The downstairs living area had everything we needed. The double bed was very comfortable and the bathroom has a shower over the bath. We spent around £4 a day on electric which was less than we thought. We parked at Willow Car park which is close by. We were easily able to load and unload the car directly outside the house. Will definitely consider Erin cottage for any future holidays in Mevagissey.

A beautiful place to stay

We were lucky enough to stay in Mevagissey this summer and this was such a great cottage! Very centrally located, within walking distance of many restaurants and shops, with parking easily accessible. The cottage itself is spacious, with a lovely, cosy living room and two main bedrooms. Would definitely recommend if you’re thinking of visiting Mevagissey.

Lovely week in Mevagissey - weather was most definitely in our favour. Had several beach days, Carlyon being our favourite. The accommodation was perfect for our visit. Very clean and well maintained. Free view TV, Wi-Fi and well equipped kitchen . The cottage is very close to all amenities; the harbour, the pubs, restaurants & shops. The owners provided some great recommendations for eating out There is a ferry from mevagissey to fowey, which makes for a nice day out and several other boat trips. We went on one of the coastal boat trips and were lucky enough to see the dolphins! Had a lovely stay and found the locals exceptional friendly and helpful.
