Gould’s Farmhouse is a 4 bedroom farmhouse with large enclosed garden in the heart of rural Dorset. A beautiful period farmhouse dating back to 1600s with some original features.

It has recently been completely renovated and is furnished as a second home with antiques but retaining the comforts of modern living. It has a large sitting room and separate dining room as well as a small office offering wireless internet access. There is a lovely south facing conservatory.

The house is ideal for those with limited mobility, as it has a proper lift to the upstairs area, (by prior arrangement only).

Outside there is a large garden with plenty of room for the children to play. Also sun loungers and BBQ. There is a good children's playground 100 yards up the road. The house is within easy walking distance of the post office and village stores, providing basic provisions, and a pub.

The pretty village location offers easy access to the world famous Jurassic Coast and is in the centre of Thomas Hardye country - the fictional town of Casterbridge (Dorchester) being 8 miles distant. The stunning coastline at Lulworth Cover and Durdle Door is just 14 miles away. About a 30 minute drive away is Weymouth Bay which boasts long and sandy beaches with traditional beach entertainments such as donkey rides and Punch and Judy. Within 20 minutes you can visit the acclaimed Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum. For the younger visitors Farmer Palmers is less than 30 minutes away.

We felt privileged to stay there

By Helen on 04-Jul-2021

> Having been fortunate enough to travel both in the UK and abroad extensively we have never stayed anywhere where we felt so immediately relaxed. Gould’s Farmhouse is the most beautiful property, with so much character and history, we felt privileged to be staying there. > > The well equipped kitchen with an Aga (that the dogs loved!) was used every morning for breakfast. Sat at the table looking at the wonderful garden, fields and church beyond is a view I would never tire of. Morning coffee and papers in the bright, sunny conservatory. We would then prize the dogs away from the Aga and head out. > > There is so much to do in the local area for all generations. We had some very good walks - Lulworth, Wareham Forest and several straight from the farmhouse. We were always keen to get back to Gould’s and sit in the beautiful garden then enjoy the fire in the lounge on a chilly evening. The bedrooms were all large, en suite and extremely comfortable. > > The village is a delight to explore and we were made to feel very welcome by the local community. There’s a well stocked village store, a post office and The Royal Oak pub which has an extensive menu and serves delicious meals. > > Thank you Nicola for your hospitality. We will return as soon as possible to Gould’s Farmhouse for the peace and tranquility it gives.

The house itself is full of charm and character

By Maureen on 27-Jun-2021

We have just spent a really lovely week in this old farmhouse, it was a joy to arrive here to find that everything had been done to make our stay comfortable. The house itself is full of charm and character and beautifully clean and ready to just unpack and enjoy. We found it to be well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Situated in a charming village with a shop nearby for essentials and a pub within walking distance.

A wonderful week

By Iain and Pamela on 18-Feb-2021

We have just completed a wonderful week's 3 generation holiday at Gould's Farmhouse, the perfect setting and base for visiting Dorset. Gould's is set in a typical Dorset village full of character, as is the farmhouse. The farmhouse, parts of which date back to the 1600s, has all the modern conveniences you could wish for. The grandchildren loved playing hide and seek around the house and in the large garden which is full of nooks and crannies to hide in We fully recommend it. Would we go there again? YES! .
