Thank You
By Tracy, Simon, and Chloe. on 11-Oct-2024Thank you very much for leaving Harbour Cottage spotlessly clean and tidy for us. Clearly you take a heartfelt pride in the place. And upon arrival we could quite see why you would want to do so. This is a characterful, charming house, and immediately feels homely and welcoming. It is very well equipped. It's in a beautiful, striking setting. We have enjoyed a really happy and relaxed time, and we put that down almost entirely to your house. The stairs did keep us alert, which must be good for people of our age. How did anyone manage to take up a washing machine? Oh, yes, we put out the bin and the refuse collectors arrived at 5.45am! They even disposed of the old take away coffee cups which passersby had cheekily dropped inside, and then the guys thoughtfully returned the bin safely away from the street. Toucan cafe is the best eating place in town, at least for our faddy tastes. Lovely, hardworking staff, delicious food, really generous portions, and good value in this day and age. Unlike the train, although we naturally admired the station and enjoyed the bookshop. The beach is okay and really fine past Butlins, the town vibrant in a good way (although the security presence outside a couple of establishments kept us moving by on Saturday afternoon, heads down), and the walks around the old town below St Michael's are very pleasant indeed. North Hill certainly raises the heart rate. Dunster was a fair stroll, the Castle stunning. The village must be overrun in the summer months. Even the weather transpired to be better for us than those truly grim looking Metoffice forecasts. Wales did, however, look wet. It's always a reassuring sign when we do not want to leave a place. And we did not want to leave Harbour Cottage this morning. Couldn't we just have stayed on, indefinitely? We'll soon know whether you would welcome us back, or not. Fingers firmly crossed, hopefully the former but, after scrolling through some of those entries in the visitors' book, we would quite understand if you've simply had enough of paying guests for one lifetime. Thank you very much for a very good holiday. We've been self catering for well over thirty years. We've had all sorts of experiences in a variety of accommodation. Your house is right up there among the best. And we never take anything like this much time to offer any feedback to hosts, so that tells you all you need to know.
Disappointed
By Sheila Hartley on 27-Sep-2024House keeping could have been better, when furniture moved we found dominoe pieces ( floors not swept etc) cobwebs around lounge tho could have been effective if Halloween. Nice to have had a basic welcome gift( milk etc) like all our other rentals. Bed sheets etc not ironed so didn't look fresh. Toilet seat off main bedroom wrong size & kept slipping to the right. This lovely old house could be a gem. I think as no body had been in it all Sept, it hadn't been checked over. We found it lacking. Minehead is a favourite of ours saying that we have booked two more cottages for next year.
