Overview
Description
You can holiday like King Henry V himself (he was born in the town) in this brilliant baroque Manor House on the banks of the River Monnow, a 10 minute walk from Monmouth Castle and all the independent shops, cafes and bars that make Monmouth one of the top 3 places to live in the UK according to the Sunday Times.
Indoors there's more than enough space to sleep 24, with a couple of cots for the under 3's 7 of the bedrooms have their own bathroom while 4 bedrooms share two more. Bedroom 11, a twin room, is on the ground floor with it's own loo and shower room nearby. Bedroom 10 is a large twin ensuite bedroom also accessed from the ground floor via 4 wide steps.
You'll love The Great Hall with its wood burner, satellite TV, DVD player and music system, while the light and airy dining room sits all of you round the table for those memorable celebration meals. The kitchen and breakfast room make entertaining a breeze and keep the toughest chefs happy.
On site, there's loads to keep the group happy: a games room with table tennis, pool, table football and more; a hot tub to unwind after a day's walking, canoeing or cycling in the nearby Wye Valley and Forest of Dean; a barbecue area and plenty of outdoor seating where you can relax and listen to the River Monnow slowly wind its way downstream to join the River Wye. Is there much to do? More than you can imagine.
The nearby facilities are superb: 10 minutes walk will take you to a half a dozen excellent pubs and eateries, an Indian restaurant, Aslans fish and chips, and the Monnow Trail for fantastic walking. if you bring your pets you can walk straight from the door and you don't need to cross a road - wonderful and the site is fenced and gated so your little loved ones are safe - plus as you're at the very end of the lane there's no busy traffic to deal with.
It's everything you'd want for a really great holiday: perfect for families and friends.

Leave ReviewStayed her for a long weekend with my family
By Hayley Ashton-Keller on 10-Apr-2025Stayed here for a long weekend with my family. We had the best time! Mike the manager was a wonderful host, very friendly, informative, knowledgable of the area, and knew the house inside out. He gave us a full tour so we knew what’s what when we arrived. The house itself was very impressive, very grand with large rooms and open spaces. The bedrooms were all good sizes and a couple allowed for families with young children to all stay in. The kitchen was a good size and there was plenty of space to dine both inside and out. The added facilities of a games room, hot tub and river swimming were great perks as was the huge grounds with plenty of room for kids to run around and play games. I would highly recommend this house - perfect for a large group.
Garden Party
By Elizabeth P on 06-May-2025Had a garden party outside for my 80th birthday plus the Abergavenny Borough Brass Band! (Hoped the neighbours weren't too disturbed). Would have liked warmer weather but that's beyond anyone's control
Perfect famil Christmas
By Miss N L Fletcher on 23-Jan-2025The manor were perfect for our family Christmas the house had everything we needed, it was lovely and warm even in the large open areas. We had 26 people in our group age from 3 months old to 85 years and not one complaint. We would definitely look at coming back to the manor.

Went to Monmouth Town
By Anwen J on 24-Dec-2024We went into Monmouth town which is lovely, but thats about it. Even though Mike recommended we visited Shire Hall we didn't get there. We loved the house, a bluetooth speaker would be good. Best shower ever next to room 3. We would have come back but it was booked for next year. Mike the house manager was amazing and couldn't do enough for us. Such a gentleman.
