Overview
Description
‘Les Ecureuils’ is an extremely spacious Mediterranean Villa, ideal for families, or large groups, which comfortably accommodates 12 guests in 6 bedrooms. The property is approached through electric gates and is private and secure. A driveway leads to a large parking area, tree filled. gardens, lawns, and flower beds. There is a private heated pool, floodlit boules pitch, swings, outdoor barbecue and outdoor dining area for 12.
Situated on a quiet road, the villa is exceptionally peaceful, whilst only a 10 minute walk from the pretty Mediterranean town centre of Montagnac.
The small town has bakeries, cafés, a small supermarket, a Friday market and in the summer a night market and live music on Saturday nights.
There are several airports within easy reach: Béziers (35 mins), Montpellier (45mins), Nîmes (60mins) and Carcassonne (60 mins).
The villa is well placed for visiting many local attractions: the lovely ports of Mèze, Marseillan and Bouzigues, the many beautiful beaches at Meze, Sete and Agde, the beautiful Roman town of Pezenas, the Pont du Gard, Carcassonne, the Roman arena of Nîmes and many more.
The villa has many original artworks on the walls as the owner is an artist. It is comfortably furnished with tiled floors and colourful furnishings.
The huge veranda room 5 x 11 m , with its sliding doors and windows, is the ideal living space for the summer. There are cane chairs and sofas, at the pool end, and a long tiled table which can seat up to 14 and plenty of space for dancing or playing out of the sun. There is fibre internet and a range extender so you can keep up with work/friends/ social media.
The 10m x 5m South facing, salt water pool, is sunny all day and well into the evening, this is where you will spend most of your time. There is a pool heating system for the cooler months, but during July and August the sun keeps the pool at a wonderful 28-30 degrees.
There are 12 sun beds, and 3 parasols, the Oleanders at the end of the pool also provide shade. The pool is fitted with an alarm system for your safety, this must be turned on if you have young children with you, please read the instructions carefully.
Next to the pool is the poolroom, a store for outdoor games with boules, badminton rackets, balls, cushions for the outdoor table etc.
Adjoining this room is the poolside toilet and shower room.
Walk through the gardens and you will find a boules pitch which can be floodlit, a lawn for ball games, swings and a table tennis table. There is also a lovely outside dining area, featuring a Moroccan tiled table which seats 12 and a large outdoor barbecue.
Inside there is an oak fitted kitchen, which is extremely well equipped, with a range cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, and masses of crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking equipment.
Through the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine, double sink, large fridge, hoover, iron and ironing board and lots more; the backdoor leads to the washing lines.
The kitchen opens onto an open plan dining area and a snug area with 3 sofas a TV, DVD player and CD player, there is a wood burner for use in winter months. We provide a good selection of DVDs and CDs, games, jigsaws and books.
The villa has 6 large bedrooms all equipped with electric fans and mosquito nets at the windows. The beds will all be made up for you and towels provided.
Downstairs there is a double room with king size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a large walk in shower. Next to this is a twin room and a separate toilet. Upstairs there are 2 further doubles with king size beds, one of which has an en-suite with a pedestal bath. There is a triple room and a twin room, a family bathroom, a separate shower room and a small veranda.
It is only a short walk into Montagnac centre to buy croissants and bread in the morning from one of three bakeries. The Spar shop will cater for most of your needs and there is a fruit and vegetable stall on the square most mornings.
We recommend walking down to the square, ordering a pizza and having a drink at one of the bars while you wait; we do this when we first arrive.
Lunch at the Brasserie d’Esplanade is always good and in July and August you can have dinner there and enjoy the festivities on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
There is a very upmarket restaurant called BK, which specialises in organic meat near the square, please book in advance for this.
The nearest supermarket is Carrefour in Pezenas, 15 mins drive away.
We love to go kayaking on one of the many rivers or hire a boat from Meze for the day. We use the beaches at Meze, but there are lovely beaches at Marseillan and Agde.
The Aqua Park at Agde is great fun for teenagers and the Dinosaur Park on the way to Meze is fun for little ones.
In the afternoons we like to go wine tasting in any of the many wine Domains which feature in this area, you will find delicious Rosés, and Picpoul de Pinet's at great prices.
This is a relatively unspoilt part of France, we love it for that, you can still eat out very reasonably, and buy beautiful local produce on the markets for eating in.
There is plenty to do in the area if you want, or you can just chill around the pool.
We find it a perfect place to relax and enjoy friends and family, we hope you do too.
Bookings run from Friday to Friday, check in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. When you make your booking a 25% deposit is payable, the balance is payable 8 weeks prior to your booking. A security deposit of £500 is also payable at that time which is fully refunded by bank transfer during the fortnight after you leave, as long as the property is left in good condition.
There is a French holiday tax which works out at £10 per week for each adult in the party, this is also payable with the balance, but is worked out individually for each group.

Leave ReviewPerfect end of Summer holiday
By Wendy Ratcliffe on 17-Sep-2025We have just had a wonderful week staying at Les Eccureils. It is in such a good position as you can easily walk into the lovely town which has so much history. It is just a short distance from Pezanace with its charm and the pretty ports with yummy restaurants, and great beaches . There is so much to see and do. It is great for walking and cycling with so many tracks around the vin yards and through the countryside. The market has the best cheese and fruit ( Friday). The house itself is so comfortable, and well equipped. You can prepare meals easily if you wish. We loved the salt pool, and also enjoyed table tennis and Pétanque. I think this is a great house to stay at .
Birthday celebrations
By Peter BROSTER on 23-May-2025Our holiday for my wife's 80th. birthday was a great success in the beautiful villa. We were a family of ten travelling to our villa by various means from different parts of the UK. For us; all of the villa was exceptional, with it's house facilities, superb heated swimming pool and leisure equipment. The villa in Montagnac, was in walking distance to a small local supermarket, restaurants and cafes .....with larger stores being available in Pezenas. Throughout our booking experience Linda Patrick was very helpful at all times.
What a BEAUTIFUL stay!
By Ross on 09-Aug-2024Thank you so much for having us at your beautiful villa, we weren't sure what to expect as we've never been to the south of France before, but we were blown away by the area and the house. The villa had everything you could possibly need to keep a whole group busy, from excellent cooking facilities to games and comfy chairs and a brilliant pool to cool off in. The town is also lovely, with lots of boulangeries to choose from, and we even managed to catch the excellent summer performance in the square, what a place!
Perfect for 3 generations
By Rosi Brown on 04-Aug-2023The villa was the perfect set up for a multi-generational family holiday with plenty of space. We were 2 grandparents, 4 parents and 4 children - 2 x 12 year olds and 2 x 9 year olds and everyone was just delighted with what was there. We also had one energetic dog that much appreciated the doggie paddle pool! Communication was excellent and any minor issues were quickly addressed. Linda's paintings were an inspiration for much artwork. The town of Montagnac is very close by for the early collection of patisserie each morning (best to order pains aux chocolats/raisins/croissants the day before as they quickly sell out) and the butcher is excellent! A very French experience and not at all touristy. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you Linda for sharing your lovely holiday home.

Perfect villa for a big family
By Ulrika and family from Sweden on 14-Jul-2023The most perfect villa for a big family or group of friends. Very cosy and welcoming atmosphere inside with plenty of room for everyone. Lovely, comfortable and personal sleeping rooms. The kitchen had lots of equipment for having the best dinners at home by the beautiful dinner table in the garden. A wonderful garden for both little children, teenagers and adults with a big pool and comfortable beds for relaxing. Five minutes walk to buy freshly baked croissants at the boulangerie in the village in the morning and ten minutes drive to lovely Pezenas, some of us even walked there and enjoyed all lovely antique stores and the famous saturday market. We all loved the house, garden, pool and the village and surroundings of Montagnac and find it perfect to be 30 minutes from the beaches of the Mediterranean. We also had some nice winetasting and went to Bouzigues to have lovely seafood lunches and dinners. We would definitely come back again and warmly can recommend Villa Ecureuils as a great holiday home! / Ulrika with family from Sweden”
Perfect holiday villa
By Terry Dunne on 29-Jul-2022This was my second visit to the villa and I have to say I was equally impressed as the first visit. The owners have thought of just about everything. The house and gardens are perfect for a family stay. The owners are easy to deal with and respond quickly to queries. Montagnac itself is a decent little town with a nice town square, a number of bakers, bars and a restaurant. Populat tourist towns and attractions are close by
