Description
'Colinwood', La GautraisThe property is likely to be the only purposely designed wheelchair accessible holiday home in Normandy. It has rise and fall kitchen sink and cooker plus pull out cupboards for ease of access for those with mobility issues. There is a ground floor single bedroom and en-suite wet room.
Our Norman Longere lies in the heart of the Normandy countryside known as the Bocage for its enclosed fields. It is situated close to the Hamlet of Notre-Dame-Du-Touchet and the larger principal town of Mortain, a must for those interested in WW2, walking or climbing.
Our holiday home is wheelchair accessible. 3 bedrooms in total, with 2 on the first floor but crucially a single bedroom with a level access wet room on the ground floor. The 2 bedrooms on the first floor are a single and a double suitable for family or carers. There is also a family shower room on the first floor with storage areas.
There is an open plan living, kitchen and dining room with rise and fall sink and cooker. There are pull out cupboards, which are also suitable for perching stool use. The property has an accessible patio however some of the grounds could only be accessed using a powered wheelchair since it is open fields.
The accommodation on the ground floor has been designed to comply with the British Building Regulations Part M relating to people with disabilities. The entrance door has been widened to provide wheelchair access. The threshold, while slightly raised is provided with rubber inserts to make it accessible using a wheelchair.
If you are interested in WWII, Mortain is where the German Army's last offensive took place. It has a poignant small American Memorial and a petit chapel high on the hillside with breathtaking views as fat as Mont St Michel.
Mont St Michel is 50 mins drive away and is a superb historical journey through small medieval streets with its monastery perched high above.
Avranches is close by and is a pretty town with old city walls and the 'Scriptorial museum' a fascinating delve into the work of ancient manuscripts.
Walking the coast line around Mont St Michael is one of our favorite past times.
The property is ideally located to access three departments - Brittany, The Mayenne and of course Normandy.
Vitre has a fantastic castle as does Fougeres.
There are good French restaurants in Mortain as well as an English run restaurant that is a favorite for French locals as well. Notre-Dame-Du-Touchet has a bakery, a small shop, a bar which also does lunches.
Guests must check-in and check-out by the times stated below:-
Check-in by: 14:00pm and before 19:00pm on day of arrival
Check-out by: 11:00am on day of departure
If you arrive from Caen (Quisterham) then it will take 1 hour and 40 minutes. Head for Notre-Dame-Du-Touchet near Mortain and La Gautrais is close to the town.
You will be provided with one set of keys and the key collection instructions will be sent to the lead guest’s email. The keys will be provided in a key safe located on the left hand side of the entrance door. Always return the keys to the key safe when you go out or at the end of the tenancy.
For bookings made more than 6 weeks before arrival, a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the holiday is required. This must be paid 6 weeks before the holiday commences. For bookings made less than 6 weeks before arrival, the total amount must be paid when the booking is made. If the guest fails to pay the balance the booking may be cancelled and the deposit retained.
Although we do not anticipate any costing errors on the conformation invoice, should there be an obviously incorrect price shown then we will issue s new invoice and will not be bound by the price shown on the incorrect invoice.
The balance of the booking will need to be placed 4 weeks prior to arrival.
Damage deposit
A deposit of £500.00 will be taken at the time the booking is made in the case of damage to the property and will need to have cleared in our bank at the same time as the property deposit . The deposit is separate to the cost of the holiday rental or any deposits to be paid to secure the property. Refunds will be made when the guests have left the property and it has been assessed by our representative who will report any damage. This should occur within 2 days of you leaving the property and the deposit will be returned to you within 7 - 10 working days. You will need to provide us with your banking details in order for the transfer to be made.
Cancellation, Returned Deposit & Non-Arrival Conditions
Guests who need to cancel a booking should contact us as soon as possible. Deposits already paid are only returned in accordance with the following conditions;
Cancellation made 15 days or more in advance of arrival date = Full deposit refund
Cancellation made 14 days or less of arrival date = 50% of deposit refund
Cancellation made 48hrs or less of arrival date = No refund issued, full amount of booking due.
Non-arrival guests, who are unable to attend or fail to attend for whatever reason forfeit their deposit paid and the full amount of the booking will be due. It is suggested that booking guests take out appropriate holiday / cancellation insurance where required.
In the rare event we need to cancel your booking with us, please be aware that we cannot be held liable for circumstances beyond our control and that our liability to you is limited to the refund of any payment already made.
If the property is able to be re-let then the deposit will be reimbursed less a £50.00 handling fee.
