Description
Hillcott is a beautiful 2 bedroom cottage located close to the water in Newton Ferrers. It has been decorated to the highest standard and is the ultimate in holiday home luxury.This pretty stone faced cottage is set off the road in the waterside village of Newton Ferrers in the South Hams, South Devon.
Enter through the half glazed stable door and you are immediately struck by the beautiful staircase leading to the first floor. Turn right and you step into the living room complete with a sofa and 2 easy chairs. A smart television is mounted on the wall and a living flame gas fire completes the peaceful ambience.
Turn left and you are in the kitchen/dining room. So much thoughtful attention has been given to the details in this room and indeed throughout the house. The kitchen is fully fitted with a leather effect granite work surface, built in dishwasher, fridge, wine fridge, oven and hob. Small furnishings and artefacts complete the overall feel of the room such as the wooden whale set in a recess in the dining room and the lovely french dresser resplendent with tasteful ornaments.
Both rooms have window seats overlooking the front garden and in the evening the bespoke wooden shutters can be closed to create a cosy and intimate feel.
Upstairs and on the landing hangs an ornate mirror and hanging from the ceiling is the most beautiful unique glass chandelier which just makes you want to stop and admire! Turn right and you enter the master bedroom which is beautifully furnished with a king size bed, side tables and another amazing lamp shade! The en-suite shower room has a low flush wc, walk in shower, round stone sink and electric towel rail.
Bedroom 2 is resplendent in its furnishings with the double sized bed positioned to gaze through the window whilst lying in the plush bed. A small television, built in cupboard and built in shelf unit complete the room.
A family bathroom with bath and shower over is also on this floor. Outside is a paved garden area with flower borders and table and chairs. Across the small driveway is an outside toilet room complete with sink and washer/dryer. The perfect space to wash off dogs or remove sandy beachwear.
There is private parking for 2 cars.
Dogs are welcome.
Hillcott has been thoughtfully designed to highest standard with such attention to detail making this a luxury home from home. Once visited you will certainly want to come again and again.

What a wonderful home
By Nico on 04-Aug-2025What a wonderful home to stay in to enjoy the beautiful yealm estuary and all it has to offer. A wonderful place for a family of four to stay or two couples. Would definitely stay again.

By Tony on 07-Jun-2025This is a super little cottage in the centre of Newton Ferrers located right across the road from a small coop store, which was really handy. The cottage facilities were first class and everything was beautifully presented & spotless. 10/10. Newton Ferrers itself is picturesque with lots of charm and friendly locals, and if you time the tide right, you can also walk across the river estuary to the equally beautiful village of Noss Mayo, with 2 more excellent pubs.

What a great place to stay for our break in South Devon.
By David on 15-Dec-2025What a great place to stay for our break in South Devon. The cottage is really well appointed. A short drive to Plymouth and the boarders of Cornwall. Pub was very friendly and the food was nice. The local shop is so handy for that late night glass of wine. Overall Hillcott is a place we will have fond memories of.

By Caroline on 19-Jan-2026The cottage is beautifully appointed, simple and unfussy, comfortable and relaxing. A very sociable space for four and charming for two (and a dog). A crate provided in the kitchen was a helpful addition and there was everything we needed in the cottage. It is very close to shops which is very useful. The front courtyard is enclosed by a small fence and established shrubs provide subtle privacy. It’s also in full sun during the day and is a wonderful space to eat and relax. There are so many great places to visit in the area and pubs and super walks on the doorstep. The cottage is lovely and warm in the winter and parking is a real bonus.
