Description

Margaret’s Cottage is an end of terrace farm cottage surrounded by countryside. Margaret’s Cottage was one of three cottages owned by Rookery Farm , where I grew up. These cottages were to provide homes for the farm labourers and Margaret’s the second largest, was for the Farm Foreman and the biggest cottage, Norah’s Cottage at the other end was for the Farm Manager with the smallest cottage in the middle being for the Cowman- you could never be late for work! These cottages date back to the 1890’s and Margaret’s Cottage is ideal for a peaceful, rural holiday but still is close enough to lots of amenities and family entertainment.

There are super walks from Margaret's with access onto Weavers Way and Hickling Broad, ideal for Birdwatching . Only six miles away is the beautiful sandy blue flag beach at Sea Palling. And less than a mile away is Potter Heigham, one of the main boating centres on the Norfolk Broads. Picnic, Day Boat, Canoe and Kayak hire can be arranged through me.

This cottage style home is comfortable and cosy and has a wonderful outdoor space. With a choice of places to be in the garden, you may spot a Swallow Tail Butterfly and you can watch the sun set over the fields. You are welcome to pick herbs from the kitchen garden. The cottage and garden is personally managed by me and is maintained to a high standard.

The ground floor has a well-equipped kitchen, a sitting room with electric fire, Smart television and dining table, and a family bathroom with bath and shower over, while the first floor has three bedrooms - two doubles and a single - and a shower room.
WIFI is available for you use.
Everything is provided for you at Margaret's with easy and private parking and a hard path to access.

Margaret’s Cottage does not accept pets.

I do offer short breaks out of peak season with a 3 night minimum charge, please contact me for prices.

Margaret's Cottage is a Friday to Friday changeover and a discount is offered for a 2 week booking. Please scroll down the page to see our weekly prices.

Another lovely stay

By Ruth & Ian on 20-Jun-2025

Another lovely stay in your cottage. Thank you Jan! Fantastic weather & have seen lots of swallowtail butterflies in the area. From the back bedroom window we have seen 3 cranes - 2 adults & 1 juvenile, distant but they have been in the field every day we've been here!

A lovely, cosy, historic cottge.

We Were Comfortable & Cosy In This Lovely Place

By Nick, Tracy, Lee & Brogan on 19-Mar-2025

Good weather gave us a lovely weeks holiday. We were comfortable and cosy in this lovely place. This area is one of the best in our country. The parks, animal zoo's, beaches, broads, wildlife and everything else is magic. We did the broads boat trip on one of Jan's boats (Sutton Staithe Boatyard), highly recommended. We didn't want or need anything else, except another week!
