Overview
Description
In 2000 our renovation project converted the Mill into unusual and just a little bit quirky self-catering holiday accommodation. There are three bedrooms for up to six guests. The Windmill was built in 1826 and was a working flour mill for almost 100 years. But was then derelict for more than 80 years. We are on the outskirts of the picturesque market town of Aylsham which is halfway between Norwich and the coast at Cromer. Aylsham Windmill is the perfect location for a relaxing stay in North Norfolk. With easy access to Norwich, the North Norfolk coast, and the Norfolk Broads.Accommodation layout at Aylsham Windmill. The Windmill can accommodate up to 6 people.
The accommodation is on 4 floors linked by normal domestic stairs and comprises:
Ground floor: Entrance hall leading to utility room with sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Separate cloakroom.
First floor: Beamed open plan living area with fitted kitchen, fully equipped and with fridge, dishwasher, microwave, gas cooker and hob. Lounge has 3 sofas, (and a beanbag), dining table and 6 chairs, TV with digital Freeview, DVD/VCR player, radio/CD/tape player. Hearth with woodburner effect gas fire.
Second floor: Two bedrooms, one double one twin sharing a ‘Jack and Jill’ en suite shower room.
Third floor: Double bedroom ( king size) with en-suite bath and shower room.
There are 2 further floors which are not accessible to guests.
Gas central heating. Private walled patio garden with garden furniture and gas barbeque.
Regret that we don't accommodate pets at the Windmill.

By Jackie on 07-Oct-2025Aylsham windmill is a very well equipped and comfortable place to stay. The surrounding area offers lots of different things to visit from the Broads, the coast, Norwich, steam trains & NT houses, plenty to keep you busy.
A lovely place to stay, absolutely lovely
By Nina on 29-Apr-2025A lovely place to stay. So clearly loved by the owners with impressive attention to every detail for their guests. The windmill had been so well restored and converted. Tim and Janet have made it a special place to stay and so exciting for children. Aylsham is really good location for getting out and about and doing an amazing variety of things. I would highly recommend. And we definitely want to come back to stay.

Stunning restored windmill, to celebrate a 75 th birthday
By Carol Weaver on 23-Jul-2024The windmill is beautifully and very tastefully restored. Comfortable and cosy -both the windmill and owners were very welcoming. We enjoyed the welcome pack! The location was perfect a lovely walk into the market town of Aylsham which was old fashioned with good butchers, a green grocers and bread shops set around the market square, the town had a friendly old fashioned appeal which we enjoyed. The Heritage Museum in the church grounds well worth a visit along with the church itself which features lovely stained glass. Many buildings of interest in the town and on walking down to the Staithe to the river. We enjoyed the steam train Aylsham to Wroxham and pottering around the broads. A very quiet peaceful location a great place to unwind.
