Midthatch is a two bedroom thatched cottage, the middle of three. It is dog and people friendly, relaxed and well-appointed. The cottage backs onto a large arable field beyond which sand dunes stand like ramparts against the North Sea. From the top of these, you can look north towards Happisburgh and its lighthouse, and Winterton-on-Sea to the south. Located in the seaside village of Sea Palling (handy for the Norfolk Broads) dogs are welcomed almost everywhere. This small village boasts a splendid Blue Flag beach, safe swimming, a village Post Office and fresh fish stall.
Midthatch, originally a fisherman’s cottage and bakery, dates from the late 18th-century. It is a cosy property is relaxed, well-appointed and dog-friendly. The cottage sleeps 4 adults in two comfortable double rooms, has parking for two cars and lies 50 yards from a public footpath which crosses farmland and dunes to sandy beaches where dogs can run free throughout the year.

The main feature of the sitting room is a huge original inglenook fireplace with exposed two-inch brickwork. There are oak beams, wooden furniture, bookshelves, a sofa, and armchairs. A custom-built oak staircase leads to two bedrooms upstairs..

The kitchen leads off the sitting room and is fitted with all the white goods that you will need for your stay

Shower room
With a bit of ingenuity, a very effective semi-circular shower has been fitted in a small room with a loo, wash-hand basin ( a lighted mirror above) and tall, heated towel rail. Hot water is plentiful.

First bedroom
Here we have an adult length and strength triple bunk bed - a double below with a single above. There is a hanging cupboard with shelf and some storage space.

The second bedroom
This is approached through a door from the first bedroom. It has a comfortable double bed, a chest of drawers and bedside tables. The view from both bedrooms is inland, through double glazed windows to farmland beyond.

Outside is a large, shingled, south-facing courtyard which is easily managed if you bring pets. It has an outside tap and assorted garden furniture. Beyond the wooden gate, is off-road parking for 2 carefully parked cars. Please take care not to park in neighbouring space.

July 2022

We booked our stay at the last minute and found a real gem in Ali''s cottage. We wanted a base near some dog friendly beaches and this place definitely hit the mark. We took our own food so was delighted with the fully equipped kitchen. The garden area was lovely and kept our dog safe. We had high temperatures during our stay, and the cottage remained cool, which was lovely during the day to have a break from the heat, but also meant sleeping temperatures were ideal too. We would like to visit the area again, for longer next time, and would definitely look to stay here again. Homely, clean, welcoming & well situated. Thank you!

A beautiful cottage in a truly beautiful location. Beds are super comfy and the fireplace creates a perfect evening vibe. I would definitely stay again. The parking space out the front fits a large SUV (we had a Range Rover) so handy to have a space to use. Beach is very close walk and shop is just down the road! Lovely little weekend away.
