Leave ReviewFabulous week at West Acre!
By Mick on 20-Apr-2025We had a brilliant week at West Acre, it was the perfect place to celebrate two big birthdays with family. We were a group of 9 ranging from age 10 to 80+. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and there was so much space so we could escape when we needed to! We loved the hot tub, sauna, cinema room, table tennis and huge garden. The house was spotlessly clean when we arrived and we were welcomed with a huge Easter cake which was delicious. There is plenty to do in the area and we were provided with a really detailed guide of the house and surrounding area which was really helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending West Acre to others and have already!
Annual Family Gathering - summer 2025
By Catherine on 10-Aug-2025We had a lovely stay at West Acre. From the very beginning when we were looking to book the house for our annual family gathering, Jeff, Nathan and Vicki were very helpful. Shortly before the date of our booking, we were contacted by them for a very detailed pre-visit call to discuss the house and see if we had any specifics needs - layout of the rooms, additional equipment. etc. all requests were accommodated. Upon arriving, we found that pretty much everything was provided for with great attention to detail. They had really considered everything and tailored to the the needs of our group. From the surprisingly well stocked nappy changing station, dog provisions, kitchen equipment, kitchen roll, toilet roll, etc. all provided. The accommodation itself was lovely - large spacious rooms, extremely clean, amazing garden for children, dogs and adults alike. Hot tub and Sauna was thoroughly enjoyed by the adults in our group. Short drive to York and surrounding areas for day trips. We had an amazing stay at West Acre and would definitely return for a stay here again in the future if coming back to the area as a large group.
The house with everything (almost!)
By Allan on 20-Aug-2025To use a cliché, this house does exactly what it says on the tin. It is big, luxuriously appointed and well equipped, and fun. We were three generations and there was something for everyone. Of course, the bedrooms were roomy and the beds comfortable. There is a massive dining/pool room (the conversion from dining table to pool table really does work), a very large lounge, second lounge, several loos, all the upstairs rooms had en suites, and a very large kitchen/ kitchen diner - the kitchen is very well equipped. There is loads more, just read the instructions to the house. We were very lucky with the weather so the outside space was wonderful. It is extremely large - kind of like a smallish cricket pitch. There were lots of outside (and inside) games provided, cricket, croquet, a play house, thatched hut with seating, really good charcoal barbecue, enormous outside dining table. The 'garden' was so big you could have a really serious game of frisbee - no holding back. We took our own boule and that went down well with all age ranges. There was also an outsize game of Jenga, which was enjoyed. There is plenty of parking, and the charging point for our plug-in hybrid car was handy, easy to use and economical. I've forgotten the fabulous upstairs, outsize terrace with a big hot tub, great views, and plenty of seats. There is also a roomy and comfortable home cinema room. We used most of the facilities, even though we were probably a smaller group that many. There seemed to be an endless supply of glasses! The house is on the outskirts of a pleasant village and about a 25 minute drive to York and 45 mins to Leeds. There is plenty to see around about, though honestly the house had so much it was easy just to relax and enjoy it. A special word for the butcher in Sherburn-in-Elmet (C & G Starkey). Just going there was like an episode of Emmerdale, the people actually smiled and were friendly. The local produce was seriously good and excellent value.
Family Celebration
By Collette on 31-Aug-2025Fabulous house for a family get together for Mum’s 82nd birthday weekend. We are 4 generations and there’s something for everyone at West Acre. Beautifully clean, the best resourced kitchen and so much to do. Baby changing station fully stocked, bathrooms for each bedroom, pool table was a real hit, great BBQ, rounders, table tennis, hot tub, sauna, films and football, games, sunrise yoga and cocktails watching the sunset from the roof terrace. Lovely garden for dogs and family games. Vicki, Nathan and Jeff were so lovely and helpful. Their attention to detail made the visit easy and relaxing, thank you. We visited the local air show and The Motorist cars & coffee morning too. Would stay again.
Another Perfect Stay
By Diane on 19-Oct-202510 ladies who were definitely ready for a rest and we certainly got it here. Absolutely spotlessly clean house with every facility you could wish for. Beautiful peaceful location in such a pretty village. Owners at the end of the phone should you need help. Nathan was there to greet us and was helpful throughout. Lovely delicious cake was a lovely touch. You won’t regret booking this home, it’s outstanding!
The Perfect Holiday House
By Tarni on 21-May-2025Excellent property with wonderful facilities. We stayed as a group of five families, and it was perfect for everyone, of every age. They had thought of everything! We felt very looked after by the property hosts with excellent pre-visit advice and orientation. Although based in a relatively quiet area, there was so much do in every direction, York, Leeds, and the countryside all close by. We have stayed in so many properties over the years as we get together every year as a group of old school friends, and this is by far the best property we have stayed in. We will be back!
