Unwind with one of the many board games, or take on a jigsaw puzzle on the large coffee table—can you finish it before you leave? For the little ones, there’s a treasure trove of games, plus a huge nest swing in the garden for hours of gentle swinging while you relax and watch the world go by.
Dogs will feel just as at home here, with plenty of space to roam in our large, enclosed garden. You’re welcome to bring up to four furry friends who’ll love running free while you enjoy a peaceful afternoon tea at one of the many charming garden seating areas.
A 15-20 minute walk will bring you to the dog-friendly Anglers Rest, where you can enjoy a meal, drinks, and entertainment (check the schedule for the latest events). Whether you’re here for relaxation or adventure, this is the perfect spot for a getaway.
Outside:
This detached barn is nestled in its own private country grounds of nearly half an acre. The enclosed grounds are kept natural to support visiting wildlife, with a large lawn at the heart and a separate, gated wildlife garden featuring a peaceful pond. It’s the perfect spot to relax, escape with a book,
enjoy the tranquility, or simply sit back and watch the birds and wildlife in their natural habitat.
Uniquely set into the hillside, the barn offers a seamless connection to the surrounding nature. Both king-size bedrooms open directly onto the garden, providing easy access at ground level. There’s also a gentle grassy slope at the side leading to the garden from downstairs.
Rated Class 3 on the Bortle scale, the night skies here are beautifully dark, offering an incredible stargazing experience. On clear evenings, the stars sparkle brightly overhead, and the Milky Way is often visible in all its stunning glory.
There is ample parking for three cars on the large gated driveway. For cyclists, bicycles can be stored under the covered veranda of the workshop.
The property is in a quiet, traffic-free area, with no passing vehicles, and off sat-nav - just the perfect retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility.

All bedrooms have panoramic views across open countryside.
Both king rooms have French doors onto their own secluded terraces - perfect for morning coffee or night time star gazing. They are positioned at opposite ends of the barn - ideal separation for two couples, or two families staying. Each king room has direct access to a bathroom, one being en-suite and one Jack and Jill style with the family bathroom.
Twin room:
The twin room has 2 full size single beds.
We can provide a Z-bed for a 7th guest for an additional cost - please ask for details.
We offer a travel cot, stair gates, high chair, baby bath and mat
Living space:
The downstairs is welcoming and has a lovely flow. Step into an open , airy living area designed for comfort and connection. Gather around the cosy log fire, enjoy entertainment on the 55” smart TV - download your movies or stream your favourite channels. WiFi is top notch, fast, reliable, and unlimited
Kitchen:
The kitchen is fully equipped and has a Rayburn oven operational in the colder months mid Nov-mid March

The expansive 2m dining table is ideal for family meals, celebrations, Christmas feasts, or chatting while cooking over a glass of wine. A high chair is available on request.

1 x family bathroom and 1 x en-suite shower room.
The family bathroom features a monsoon ceiling shower, as well as a separate slipper bath.
The en-suite shower room features a double length shower, toilet and wash basin.
Garden:
Half an acre double enclosed by stock fencing behind hedging. Huge lawn at the heart. Children and pets love the freedom of running around the garden, often referred to by guests as like a field or paddock!
Second gated garden with a wildlife pond.

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas at Crooked Barn
By The Pardy family on 30-Dec-2021We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas at Crooked Barn and even managed to cook a suckling pig in the Rayburn. The barn was so warm and festively decorated, a home from home. The local pub served fantastic food and there was great food to be had in Lifton and Tavistock.

Very comfortable and well equipped. Redford Lake worth a visit - dogs not allowed in the lake though. Visited too may fabulous beaches etc to name. A great week!
