Description
Magnificent and comfortable chateau in the Loire Valley/Poitou with beautiful views, swimming pool and large enclosed park. This castle sleeps up to 16 persons in 9 bedrooms/6 baths. It is a perfect starting point for visiting Loire Valley castles.With a truly exceptional setting with glorious views, the chateau de la Plaine is a large comfortable chateau with modern amenities that can sleep up to 16 persons in 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
Please note that the rental price if for an occupancy of 16 persons. Maximum occupancy is 20 + 2 todlers but additional fees apply (see below)
- There are 2 master suites that comprise a large bedroom with a double bed, a smaller bedroom in one of the towers with 2 single beds, and a full bathroom.
- There are 3 double rooms, each with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom
- There is one bedroom with a single bed and an ensuite bathroom
- There is a bedroom with two single beds on the ground floor. The ground floor has a large, fully equipped eat-in kitchen, a formal dining room, a living room with a working fireplace (logs are provided), a library, and a playroom stocked with toys (lego, playmobil, etc.). There are 2 cots and a high chair in the chateau.
The chateau is a perfect starting point for visiting the Loire Valley castles. There are many old abbeys and medieval towns in the area and the chateau is located close to the Futuroscope theme park. The Puy du Fou historical theme park is not too far away as well. There are many wine tasting places in the area (Chinon, Saumur, Bourgueil, Haut Poitou), a wonderful small open air market with local producers in the village, and gourmet restaurants are nearby as well.
If you are into more active pursuits, the area is great for biking (the old railroad line has been turned into a 30 mile cycling path through nature), golf, horseback riding (there are several riding places around), canoing (on the Vienne river), waterskiing, zipping, or paintball. Hot air ballon rides are available nearby (you can fly over the chateau!).
Guests have access to a 10mx5m unheated pool in a secluded and fenced area, a barbecue, a ping pong table, and outdoor furniture for eating outside as well as loungers. Tennis courts in the village 2 miles away are also accessible to guests. Inside the chateau, there is a TV (with Netflix) and a HIFI system as well as a grand piano.
Please note that early checkin requests can be considered depending on the occupancy of the chateau the previous night. However, please note that the chateau is NOT accessible prior to the agreed time for luggage storage or access to toilets.
Please note:
1) Price includes all linens
2)Final cleaning fee is 450 euros
3) There is a refundable (if no damage) 1500 euros security deposit, payable 3 weeks prior to arrival
4) If heating is required, there is a fee of 80 euros per day, payable upon arrival
5) Fee for extra persons (above the standard occupancy of 16) is 60 euros per person and per night.

Leave ReviewA week in a wonderful chateau
By Alison and John on 16-Aug-2025We came to the chateau, ten adults and 6 children aged 5 to 75 and had a magical stay. The property provided excellent accommodation for the 6 families with our party of 16 people - very comfortable beds, a lovely kitchen, great dining room for a special meal. Outside the grounds are amazing, magnificent trees and views, a wonderful pool that the children would have been in all the time if allowed, plenty of furniture for lazing around and eating meals al fresco. Would thoroughly recommend this beautiful property that is extremely well equipped, has super bakeries nearby and an excellent supermarket at Auchan, Lencloitre.
Great New Year stay

The environment and the castle garden are very pretty and very well maintained. I will not hesitate to recommend this rental or come back. Very nice and responsive owner
A great holiday

The palatial exterior of Chateau de La Blaine belies the comfort and homeliness of its interior which boasts some of the most comfortable beds we have slept in. The shuttered windows and the judicious repositioning of a vase or two made it easy to child-proof the rooms. The magnificent parkland of trees, lawns and flower-beds offers a short-walk to a fully enclosed and secure open-air swimming pool, which was a particular highlight. The views across the surrounding countryside are simply stunning. We particularly valued the extensive space, the quiet and the privacy. Gaelle was extremely helpful in dealing with any queries and we are grateful to her and her family for sharing their home with a large group of complete strangers.
A perfect holiday
By Fiona on 31-Aug-2024What a truly wonderful place!! Although the photos show a beautiful place, they do not do justice to the reality, which was perfection. The chateau, its grounds and the location are all outstanding and so big! Lots of walks and places to explore. Gaelle, the host, was there if we needed, answering emails very quickly and offering help and recommendations . We were a party of 15 with ages from 3 to 73. Everyone felt comfortable and well catered for. A perfect holiday!

Extraordinary stay
By Gotlib on 31-May-2023We rented Gaëlle''s castle for the Pentecost weekend with 5 families. The castle has 5 large bedrooms with annexes for children who are very appreciated. Downstairs, the living and the kitchen are very large. The estate is gigantic and stunning. We were hosted very well and the host was always available. Lots of play for the kids available. Finally, the pool not even heated was a real treat for 3 days for children. I recommend the estate to everyone, you will have an extraordinary stay
