Overview
Description
Our stunningly converted little barn offers the most magnificent views over the countryside and an amazing sense of peace, tranquility and being at one with nature. It is situated at the end of small country lane so there is no passing traffic. There is a spacious and stylish mezzanine bedroom with en-suite shower room and double doors leading to a balcony with views over the valley and forests beyond.
There are two sets of double doors, leading from the lounge and dining kitchen to a large deck with far reaching, magnificent views and with dining table and sun loungers. What could be better than chilling with a cold glass of wine whilst taking in all nature has to offer.
The lounge has a wood burning stove for cosy winter evenings and this leads to a well equipped dining kitchen where on long summer evenings dining al fresco is a pure joy. Watching the deer meander across the sunflower fields, listening to the birdsong and if you are lucky watching the wild boar foraging in the woods just adds to the amazing sense of being away from it all, deep in the gorgeous French countryside. There are many beautiful walks from the doorstep, some wonderful cycling and we offer private parking.
As you enter Le Lievre you will see the lovely little walled courtyard, where you can take your morning coffee under the shade of our old walnut tree.
I'm sorry but pets not allowed because of our own animals.

Leave ReviewLe Lievre
By Russell and Judith on 14-Jul-2025A really lovely property. Very clean and spacious for two people. Well equipped and tastefully restored barn with excellent mezzanine bedroom, which has its own balcony. The raised decking area has stunning views over a lovely valley and is ideal for al fresco eating or just enjoying a glass of wine as the sun sets. Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again.

Peace and Tranquility in Abundance
By Wendy Yates on 26-May-2025This little Gite is wonderful. We have enjoyed 12 nights, and we can't remember coming home from a holiday feeling more refreshed. If you want peace and quiet, and a homely well equipped Gite you would struggle to find any where better. The views from the terrace are just as good as in the photos - you can't even see the hosts house, although they are just next door - simply beautiful rolling Charente countryside, from where we could hear the sounds of the wildlife and tried to catch a glimpse of the wild boar and the deer. The sud charente area has so much to look at, lots of places to eat, and no where was busy. We had no idea how nice the area is when we booked the Gite! There is a Super U supermarket only 5 mins away in Montmoreau, and should you want to go the Dordogne is only a 30 minute drive. It's difficult to think of anything to say that is not positive. If you're wanting Egyptian cotton bedding and flashy kitchen appliances this may not be the place for you, but if you would like peace and tranquility it is wonderful. Lesley and Toby are right in thinking they have a 'special' place.

Simply magnificent!
By Suzanne Cetkowski on 20-May-2025This gîte is simply magnificent! From the views of the countryside, stunning sunsets and watching the wildlife playing in the fields. But most of all is the peace and quiet. Sat out on the terrace, drinking the local wine, is magical. The gîte itself has everything you need for a relaxing stay, well equipped for all your needs. The hosts Toby and Lesley are lovely and are more than happy to recommend places to eat and visit. I will definitely be booking again!

A perfect slice of paradise
By Julie Rainford on 29-Apr-2025We were recommended to stay at Le Lievre by friends, and what a recommendation. This is a perfect gite for a couple. Everything has been thought about, from the romantic mezzanine bedroom, with double aspect views of the countryside without another house in sight, to the perfectly appointed kitchen and cosy lounge with log burner. We were blessed with perfect weather so spent all our time on the huge deck, lapping up the sunshine. The hosts are excellent - on hand and super helpful when needed but not intrusive at all. They recommended an excellent pop up restaurant for lunch and had lots of useful guidance on local markets and the like. We will definitely be back and would recommend this spot to anyone.
