Overview
Description
The Farmhouse South Wing is part of the main Farmhouse known as Amber Mill Farm. The property was built circa 1790 and is a listed building and is one of eight properties within Oakerthorpe Holiday Village. The ground floor has a large state of the art country kitchen with dining table and includes 2 fridges, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine along with a spacious lounge area with handy downstairs toilet and for our guests with mobility issues a ground floor double bedroom with en-suite is available.
The first floor consists of 4 double bedrooms, 3 with en-suites and 1 twin bedroom along with a family bathroom with bath/shower.
The property has a standard occupancy of 12 however we are able to sleep 16 by adding additional put up beds in the largest bedrooms. The additional price is £40 per bed/per night.
The dining table has bench seating with space for 12-16 ( a little snug)
The property has Freeview TV and Wi-fi with plentiful parking directly outside, being a listed building the property has single glazing throughout however due to the thickness of the walls the property is very cosy.
The village grounds include a playpark with playhouse, designated BBQ area, a floodlit sports area and an enclosed dog walking area along the banks of the River Amber, where the adjacent sluice gates and weir will be seen that served to provide water power to the neighbouring Cotton Mill circa 1790.
Adjacent the main Farmhouse is a walled Orchard which include geese, ducks, bantams, quail, alpacas, goats, rhea (small ostrich), peacocks, sheep and meerkats which is proving very popular with the younger guests especially helping Farmer Vic including fruit picking when in season and feeding and collecting the eggs from the chickens throughout the year except during the Christmas period.
Oakerthorpe Holiday Village aims to provide a truly memorable stay for all its guests with top class accommodation, striving at all times to deliver the very best along with giving a unique and memorable experience however we would like to make you aware that approximately 150 metres from the property is a main railway line which for many, especially our younger visitors as a steam train can often be seen enriches the village experience and it must be said there is minimal sound pollution.

Leave ReviewThe South Wing
By Sal on 13-Aug-2023Lovely location and a great cosy house. Perfect for bigger groups and rooms are big. Felt very homely. Love the farm right on the doorstep. The owner was absolutely very pleasant. Families with children would certainly love this location. Enjoyed our stay, and the beds were comfy. It''s definitely highly recommended by us.

By Thomas Russell on 02-Feb-2024Lovely house and farm area. We all had fun with the animals and went on great nearby walks. The hosts were great at communicating throughout the holiday.
Brill stay with a big group
By Catherine on 17-Feb-2025Brill stay with a big group of families celebrating 40th birthdays. It was a great space and well located for exploring. We all had plenty of space and really enjoyed our time together. The kids loved going out to feed the animals with the farmer- that was a really nice touch! Also house was brilliant for big games of hide and seek!
Great stay here!
By Matthew on 16-Mar-2025Great stay here! We got all the family together for the weekend and had a great time here. Nice space and great surroundings - we loved all the animals and the park for the kids was great! There’s loads of great pubs and walks nearby - would definitely recommend the Horse and Jockey up the road for a drink and food.
Thanks!
By Eddie on 09-Mar-2025Thanks a lot Vic! What a perfect spot for our friends and families to get together. Kids loved the outdoor space and seeing the animals, we got lucky with the weather. Us adults enjoyed a game of football and evenings in the well sized lounge playing games after bed time. Can't fault it. Thanks very much
