Overview
Description
This stunning, carefully restored 17c stone farmhouse is a preserved and textbook example of the local Quercynoix style - typical regional architectural features include a pigeonnier (dovecote), a bolet (covered balcony), a souillarde (stone-vaulted annexe) and two inglenook fireplaces.Location: Superbly situated in a hilltop hamlet, perched above an authentic working village, it's generous accommodation could suit a three-generation family or two big families.
From the house there are lovely views to open countryside and across a charming village roofscape with church and chateau bellow. The extensive grounds include a securely enclosed 10m private pool, mature trees, shady terraces and a large, flat paddock, ideal for garden games. There is separate seating on the shaded bolet. The comfortable accommodation suits large parties that might include several families.
Cuisine and activities: The region is renowned both for its gastronomy (spicy, full-bodied Cahors wine, confits, foie gras, fragrant cèpes (wild mushrooms) and for offering cultural and leisure opportunities to suit all tastes.
There are historic towns with regular markets, unspoilt villages, chateaux and museums, river canoeing, biking and horse-riding together with numerous prehistoric caves to explore.
There are also many cultural events, concerts and festivals in the region (jazz and classical music at Souillac, Assier, St Céré, Rocamadour) - or guests can simply sample the cuisine at one of the excellent local restaurants. Alternatively the evening might be spent with a barbecue on the raised terrace overlooking the floodlit pool...

Leave ReviewGreat house in Dordogne
By Quentin Blight on 02-Aug-2025We had a great time here with some good recommendations for activities - Peche Merle was fantastic, and some of the group also went kayaking as recommended and also had a lovely time. The house was perfect for our group of teens. Mike is a great host, followed up to make sure everything was on our arrival and answered any questions really quickly.

By Carla van Gils on 29-Jul-2020Bij aankomst waren we blij verrast.
