Farmhouse/villa near Ceret, Pyrenees-Orientales, Languedoc-Roussillon - Peaceful Location Set In 100 Acres Of Private Forest With Magnificent ViewsSituated in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains in the village of Oms near the medieval market village of Ceret which has many bars and restaurants and is also well known for its art museum. Influenced by many famous artists such as Monet, Van Gogh and Matisse who all found inspiration in the surrounding countryside. Wonderful walks and magnificent views. 40 minutes to long wide safe Argeles beach.
A true "getaway from it all" holiday location, yet still 4 mins from the village of oms which provides for day to day needs and also 20 mins from ceret with all its conveniences. Tranquility and privacy are assured as well as lots of space both inside and out. All beds,professional mattresses, linen and towels are white hotel quality and professionally laundered.
Air conditioning only in bedrooms 1,2 & 6 otherwise there are electric floor and ceiling fans in all other bedrooms.
Outside: The grounds themselves are extensive with plenty of scope for walking, hiking, mountain biking etc. Garden space is ample also with plenty of room for kids to run and play. Large terrace beside the pool, leading to a games room with garden table and chairs. 14 new highquality Sun loungers. A huge heated swimming pool (surrounded by security fencing) which mesures 12.40m x 6.30m (0.8m to 2.4m deep) even at capacity you won't feel cramped.. Several large parasols are also available for shade. The games room which has a full size ping-pong table, pool table, dart board, excercise bike, eliptic treadmil machine (should you really wish to excercise on holiday) and a full size basketball hoop. There is also a toddlers slide and springy toy! see photos on website.
The property is very private and not at all overlooked for ultimate privacy. Utility Room: Very spacious laundry room, Spare freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. Baby High chairs and booster seats available. Also various baby equipement...stroller, pram, speacial bath etc...ask for details. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / ,pool and bath towels are provided and the inside of the property is cleaned to a high standard prior to arrival. Leave ReviewA relaxing break and a change of scenery
By Guillaume Chevalier on 10-Aug-2025We spent two weeks with our family (13 adults and children) in this villa surrounded by nature in the peaceful mountains. For those looking for a complete escape and tranquility, it's perfect. The house is very large and well equipped, ideal for watching TV or taking a nap, taking a dip in the pool, or playing a game of ping pong or pool. We used the barbecue every day and the kitchen is well equipped. The three floors provide privacy when there are a lot of people. The laundry room is very convenient with a washing machine and dryer. There are lots of activities nearby, including the sea at Argelès, lakes and mountains not far away, and several tourist attractions. For shopping, the towns of Céret and Le Boulou are the closest. Robert is very welcoming and attentive to our requests. Thank you again for this stay in your villa.

Truly fabulous stay
By Anna Kidd on 03-Aug-2025We’ve just returned from a really fantastic week in Domaine La Palmere, Oms. We were a multigenerational family group of 9 people ranging in age from 12-62. The property was very spacious and comfortable, with enough room and privacy for all the different ages. The pool was fantastic, large enough for swimming and all the mucking around teenagers can think up. The house is set in beautiful woodland, full of cork trees (!) and oak as well as moss and lichens. A real nature lovers haven. We walked in to Oms village from the house, to eat in the lovely small restaurant there. The owner Rob was very helpful, recommending places to eat and visit. The drive down to Ceret to the museum of modern art and the street market was a real highlight and so easy. Overall we felt the house was in a great location, near enough to the sea if you wanted to have a beach trip, but also surrounded by medieval hilltop villages and being higher up was cooler, which was very welcome at times. Returning to that amazing pool and the woodland calmness after a day of sight seeing was just fabulous. We had a really lovely experience (which isn’t always the case with big family groups!). Heaven. Will be booking again.

Spacious family accommodation close to mountains and sea
By Andrew on 20-Jul-2025Four families, three generations all had a wonderful time. The pool was a great hit with everyone, especially as the weather was so warm ! Property very secluded, and comfortable perfect for a carefree holiday, The owner was very kind and helpful, couldn’t wish for more.

A family friendly, sechluded gem
By Stas on 29-Jun-2014Over the years, we have rented a number of properties in France and Domaine La Palmere definitely rates as one of the very best that we have been to. On arrival we found an impressive property, comfortable and spacious, extremely well equipped, but above all else very clean and welcoming. We went as a large group (two families complete with grandparents, babies, young children and teens) which can be stressful due to differing needs - Fortunately there is something for everyone here, be that fantastic places to see and visit or making the most of the facilities on offer. And, what facilities they are – A massive swimming pool and games room that kept the teens and younger ones engaged for hours. Good wifi. Two big TV’s with a selection of recent films (including kids films) and a PS3 which even the adults enjoyed on occasion. From a practical perspective we found the beds to be fantastically comfortable, the linen white and crisp and the towels clean and fresh. However, as a family what we especially appreciated was the huge outside dining table which was shaded from direct sunlight making lazy lunch time dining a real pleasure. It comfortably sat all 14 of us and on the occasion that our fun or dining carried on into the late evening, the fact that are no neighbours within earshot meant we did not have to worry about being too noisy. In short, Domaine La Palmere is a beautiful, spacious and tranquil place that can comfortably accommodate a large and diverse group. Robert (the owner) was always extremely helpful and informative throughout our stay and responded immediately to our communications. We shall be heading back and would not hesitate in highly recommending this property! Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.
Great stay in the south of France!
By Chris on 06-Jul-2014A group of my family and friends spent 7 days at the house to celebrate my 30th birthday; we had a great time. The place was ideal for a large group (we were 14 people). Larger than expected swimming pool, excellent games facilities and a huge outside dining table all catering to our needs perfectly. The location was a little more remote than we had anticipated, but this was not a problem for us as we chilled out at the house for most of the stay. We had a great time and would definitely like to return soon. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Adventure Seekers, Families with Teenagers.

Nous étions 8 adultes et 6 enfants (qui ont largement profité de la piscine et de ses jeux annexes ). Malgré l'isolement nous disposions d'une connection wifi et de 2 coins télé avec jeux pour enfants si besoin. Bon équipement général, une mention pour l'agréable coin avec table extérieur bien agencé qui permet à tous de se retrouver autour de la table avec beaucoup d'espace et à l'abri du soleil.
