Description

The Cottage is a place where you instantly feel relaxed. Thick stone walls, warm flagstone floors with underfloor heating, and a cosy log burning stove make it perfect for families and couples even during the colder months. The Cottage is a converted stable block on a former farm that is set back from a quiet country lane with no through access. Despite the remote and peaceful location, the house benefits from fast WiFi and is within easy reach of shops, cafes, pubs and beaches.

The owners Lyn, Phil & Steve live on site & are available to answer any queries & deal with those minor problems that occasionally arise. While you are here, the Cottage is your home & we want you to feel completely comfortable. Please note that the Cottage is a non-smoking property & is not suitable for pets.

Our policy is to be as flexible as possible. Arrive whichever day suits you &, subject to other bookings & a 3-night minimum, stay as long as you like. Short breaks in the low season are available for as little as £360. You can find a more detailed price list on this site, & there's a link to a printable pdf of our full tariff on our web page. If a booking spans 2 price points, the lower will apply throughout.

About the Area

Although The Cottage is wonderfully rural, the marina, cafes and pubs at Neyland, on the Cleddau are just a short three-mile drive or a pleasant cycle away; the riverside pub the Jolly Sailor in the nearby village of Burton is a particular favourite. The Pembrokeshire Coast is famous for its pristine beauty and wealth of wildlife. Boat tours from several locations take visitors to Skomer, Skokholm and Grassholm Islands, giving a chance to see puffins, dolphins and whales in their natural habitat.

You can walk to the Milford Haven Waterway in under an hour and still take time along the way to watch birds or enjoy the view. The county town of Haverfordwest is only 6 miles away where you will find a good variety of shops, bars and places to eat, as well a golf club, one of many locally. Milford Haven, with its easy access to the open sea, is popular with anglers, sailors and divers; the area around the redeveloped fish docks is worth a visit.

Ramblers love Pembrokeshire. The Pembrokeshire Coast path runs for 186 miles along some of the most beautiful coastline in the world, and there is a regular local bus service along stretches to make it easy to get back to your starting point at the end of an enjoyable day of walking. Other fantastic walks include around the Marloes Peninsula that overlooks Skomer Island, around St David’s Head and up Carn Llidi, and a circular loop from Porthgain that takes you to the Blue Lagoon in Abereiddy. The coast south of the Cleddau is worth exploring too; Bosherston Lily Ponds, the area around Angle & Saundersfoot to Amroth are among a wealth of possibilities.

Are you after fantastic beaches? You will find more than a few in Pembrokeshire! Broadhaven, Little Haven, Barafundle Bay and Freshwater West will keep even the most enthusiastic sand-castle builder happily occupied for weeks. Tenby’s three beaches and ice-cream coloured houses are a picture-perfect backdrop for a fun day out, while further north you have St Bride’s, Newgale, Solva and St Dogmaels. With all of this, plus attractions like Pembroke Castle, Folly Farm and Oakwood Theme Park, nearby, The Cottage is the perfect holiday destination; situated towards the centre of the county, the whole area is easily accessible.

A Few Comments from The Cottage Guest Book

By on 08-Nov-2018

We had a fantastic time at ‘The Cottage’ from the cosy log fire to the hot showers. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed walking along some of the trails. I would definitely recommend Pembroke Castle for an exciting day, exploring caves and towers. Thank you for a relaxing and amazing cottage holiday which we will never forget! ________________________________________________ Many thanks for accommodating us during our short stay. The cottage was clean, comfortable and maintained to a very high standard. Will certainly consider returning for a longer stay. P.S. Enjoyed the lovely cookies, shortbread and gooseberry jam. ________________________________________________ A fantastic holiday cottage, well appointed and equipped with a lovely homely feel. Will definitely recommend to others. Thank you for making our stay all that we hoped for. ________________________________________________ The perfect base for a perfect family holiday. The cottage is lovely, and the rhubarb and fig jam is delicious, thank you. Would definitely recommend Colby Walled Garden and Pembroke Castle, and all the beaches are great. Thank you for being so accommodating of our last minute booking, we’ve had such a fantastic time staying here. ________________________________________________ The most perfect last-minute getaway for a long weekend when we needed it most. Love the stable cottage – we will be back! ________________________________________________ We stay in a wide variety of s/c accommodation across the UK and The Cottage is right at the top. Careful design, craftsmanship and functioning make it a very comfortable place to stay. The location is excellent too; quiet, isolated but within a short distance of Cleddau inlets, wild coast, towns and historic sites. There are many good walks from The Cottage; this year I walked Brunel’s railway line alongside Westfield Pill into Neyland. Tremendous history, especially with old O.S.* map showing the maze of tracks, docks etc. Biscuits, jam & milk much appreciated, thank you. * Available free online from National Library of Scotland for England, Wales & Scotland. ________________________________________________ We have had a really lovely holiday. ‘The Cottage’ is beautiful, cosy & peaceful. Barafundle & Marloes stunning! Lovely local walks. Thank you so much! From two teenage boys – ‘Awesome’ – can’t say more than that!! A wonderful few days at the cottage. Tranquil & relaxing. A great base to explore from. ________________________________________________ Really nice cottage. Enjoyed our stay very much. The attention to detail is impressive. Thank you again and we will come back. P.S. Phil’s woodwork is top notch!! ________________________________________________ Fantastic stay at ‘The Cottage’, a real home from home with everything you need supplied. Our third visit to the area and still places to explore. Already looking forward to our next stay at ‘The Cottage’. ________________________________________________ What a lovely find. Beyond our expectations! We have visited three lovely beaches this holiday: Dale (Griffin Inn is one of the best fish restaurants we have been to), Sandy Haven & Marloes Sands. Spent ages crabbing in rock pools – perfect! Thank you for renting out such a lovely little gem. We would happily return.
