Overview
Description
Our holiday home, on a site of 33 privately owned Lodges at Duke´s Meadow, is one of 6 overlooking Duke´s Pond with its own parking space.Sleeping 4 people in two bedrooms, our holiday home is perfect for a family of three /four or one /two couples looking for a peaceful and relaxing break.
Not forgetting the most important family member - your dog is welcome too.
The open plan accommodation offers a comfortable lounge area with a smart TV, integral DVD player, Netflix and a Bluetooth speaker. A patio door opens onto the wooden decking. The dining area, also with a patio door out to the decking, has dining table with four chairs.
Electric radiators keep the Lodge warm and cosy during the chillier evenings.
WiFi/fibre broadband is available and included.
The kitchen is well equipped with an excellent range of pots, pans and utensils that you might need for your self catering holiday.
Our guests comment that they can always find everything they need and more.
The slow cooker is a favourite - imagine returning from a day´s walking on the fells to the appetising aroma of your evening meal simmering gently away.
The double and twin bedroom are both furnished with wardrobes, shelves and drawers offering plenty of storage space. The double bedroom has a wall mounted smart TV and the twin bedroom has a TV with integral DVD player. The beds will be made ready for your arrival with a feather duvet and crisp, white cotton bed linen.
There is a hair dryer in each room.
We have a cot and high chair available at no extra cost - please ask when booking.
The double bedroom has an ensuite shower room with washbasin and WC. In the family bathroom there is a bath with shower over, washbasin and WC.
A hand and bath towel are provided for each guest. Bath mats are supplied for each bathroom.
The outside decking is fully enclosed, making it secure for your dog, and is furnished with a garden dining table and chairs. There is a parasol for those hot, sunny days. Yes, the sun does shine in the Lake District!
At the back of the Lodge there is another seating area which is the perfect spot to enjoy the last rays of the evening sunshine.
Duke´s Pond is home to a number of moorhens who hatch a brood or two of chicks each spring. Mum will bring them up to the lodge to feed on the bird seed. The red squirrels are regular visitors too, looking for the nuts in the feeder on the decking.
There are stunning views of Blencathra from the site and you can walk in the footsteps of Alfred Wainright across the North Lakes fells which are just a short drive away.
The historic market town of Penrith is 10 miles (20 minutes) where you will find some delightful independant shops, cafés and restaurants in the town centre. On the outskirts there is a choice of supermarkets offering a superb range of supplies for your self catering holiday.
14 miles and just under a 30 minute drive will take you to Keswick, one of the main tourist centres in the Lake District. Keswick has plenty to offer visitors including great shopping, museums and intersting attractions, all amid some spectacular lake and mountain scenery.
Don´t miss a trip to Ullswater, my favourite lake. It will only take you 15 minutes to get to Pooley Bridge at the head of the lake from where you can admire the breathtaking views. While you are heading in that direction, stop off at the waterfalls at Aire Force and make time for a boat trip on the lake with Ullswater ´Steamers´.
Your holiday can be for any length of time but a minimum of 3 nights.
Changeover can be on any day.
If it is peace and quiet you are needing, then look no further - you have found it!
Please send me a message if there is more that you would like to know about "Holmedell".
I look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our holiday home which I hope you will love as much as we do.

By Anon on 01-Nov-2025Loved everything about the Lodge. You´ve thought of everything. Every utensil, pan, to the cleaning products. Anyone moaning about anything needs to have a word with themselves. Awesome stay.
Holmedell Lodge
By Nigel on 26-Sep-2025A very relaxing fortnight's stay with plenty of entertainment from the red squirrels. Easy reach of Greystoke village with a v good pub - The Boot & Shoe and would thoroughly recommend a visit and tour around Greystoke Castle. Tour guide was the owner who is in the process of renovating this beautiful building. Very attractive and extensive grounds as well. North lakes within easy reach but consider visiting the Eden valley to the East of Penrith - gentle afternoon's walk taking in the restored viaducts and the beautiful Eden River. Impressive cascades visible from the millenium bridge near the Viaduct Trust Car Park.

By Jane on 05-Sep-2025We had a fantastic week in this beautiful, comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean lodge. We particularly loved feeding and watching all the red squirrels. We'd definitely like to come back again!
Holmedell Lodge
By Gladys on 29-Aug-2025Holmedell was amazing. Much more than we had all expected. It is in a lovely setting and so peaceful. The lodge is super-comfy and extremely clean. Everything we needed was at our fingertips and it is furnished to a high standard. Although in a peaceful location, Dukes Meadow is only five minutes by car from Greystoke which is a gorgeous little village. On behalf of my Husband and Sister, I would highly recommend Holmedell. Anyone who rents this lodge will not be disappointed. Well done all at Holmedell.

So Peaceful
By Mat Bury on 06-Jun-2025We had an amazing time. The Lodge is such a quiet and peaceful place. The Lodge itself is clean and tidy. Plenty of space. The red squirells that came by to feed on the feeders dotted around was a lovely surprise
