Our charming detached holiday cottage, La Belle Maison is especially popular with couples seeking a tranquil country retreat with space to spread out, however it can comfortably accommodate up to four guests in 2 bedrooms.

La Belle Maison is approached through its own private south-west facing enclosed garden which benefits from the sun during the day and on into summer evenings. There is a built-in chimney barbecue, hardwood table with chairs and parasol in a sheltered outdoor dining space, plus two reclining sun loungers. Wonderful sunsets over the nearby forest can be enjoyed, as well as night skies clear of light pollution - ideal for star gazing.

A traditional Breton glazed porch protects the front door which opens into a central hallway which has the original terracotta floor tiles; there are coat-hooks, a full length mirror and a stocked bookcase.
The dual aspect kitchen, is a lovely bright and airy room overlooking the garden. As well as the working area of the kitchen, which includes a built-in oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, there is a dining table with four chairs, plus a dresser for crockery and a corner unit to store cleaning equipment out of sight.
The separate sitting room which has chestnut parquet flooring with carpet square to make it cosy, there are 2 comfortable 2 seater sofas, a wood burner with a top-box that is ideal for simmering casseroles, warming plates or mulling wine in cooler months. The television receives UK free-to-air channels and there is also a DVD player.
Further down the hall, opposite each other there are two equal sized bedrooms; on the left is a west facing double bedroom; the large window has far reaching views to the distance forest. The twin bedroom opposite benefits from the morning sun through its east facing window. All the beds are two metres long and both rooms have plenty of storage space, an easy chair and bedside lamps
Finally there is a spacious modern shower room which has a large basin set in a vanity unit, shower cubicle, wc, and heated towel radiator.

Plessala has a bar-cafe, a take-away creperie, a small supermarket with good butchers counter and an excellent bakers, on thursday mornings there is a small street market featuring fresh fish/shell-fish and locally grown fruit & vegetables. At the edge of the town is a park with a lake and trout fishing. In the immediate area there are several other towns that have regular markets and a good selection of places to eat, as well as seasonal street festivals and brocante stalls.

There is an indoor swimming pool complex in Loudeac and a summer outdoor Lido in La Cheze. The sports centre beside the River Lie has kayaks and cycles for hire and a riding stables in Loudeac Forest organises accompanied pony treks.

At just over an hours drive from St Malo ferry port and Rennes airport, La Belle Maison is an easy to reach holiday destination and a great touring base for this beautiful region where medieval market towns, castles, forests, lakes as well as stunning beaches, fashionable marinas and several golf courses provide attractions for many tastes.

Our home in Brittany is in the same hamlet as La Belle Maison meaning we are on-hand to assist and answer questions if required but we do not intrude on our guests.

We can only agree with all of the previous comments. Ray and Penny could not have been more helpful especially since l had an issue with the car which they sorted out quickly with a good local garage and securing a hire car from them to use whilst they fixed the problem. We have brought home many lovely memories of our stay in La Belle Maison. Great hosts, great gite, great location with lovely places to visit within easy reach all with fantastic restaurants. What's not to like.??? Thanks again Ray and Penny.
