La Petite Longère provides single storey accommodation, comprising a spacious dual aspect living room, comprehensively equipped galley kitchen, a double bedroom, shower room and good sized patio with far reaching rural views.
Our gite is entered through a traditional Breton arched doorway which opens into the double height hall featuring the original exposed oak beams we have restored throughout the property. To the left of the hall there is the open plan galley kitchen which has lots of equipment for self-catering, an electric oven & grill with 4 ring hob (3 gas & 1 electric), double sink unit, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The deep window cill is ideal for keeping an eye on dinner whilst enjoying a drink! Opposite the kitchen is the dual aspect living room with french doors opening onto the terrace, it has a dining table & chairs, two sofas, a rocking chair, wood burner and electric heater. The flat-screen TV receives UK free-sat channels, a DVD player and stocked book case are also provided.
At the rear of the apartment is a light and airy double bedroom which also has french doors to the terrace, there are bedside cabinets and lamps either side of the 2m long bed, ample storage space, an electric heater, a full length mirror, plus 2 chairs. The adjacent shower room has an enclosed shower cubicle, wc, sink with mirror, light and power point above it, heated towel rail, cupboard, hairdryer and bathmats.
Outside the rear patio area has a built-in BBQ and hardwood outdoor dining furniture; zero gravity sun loungers are also available. Raised planters, and herb bushes edge the terrace; beyond which is an open paddock dotted with oak and cider apple trees; the uninterrupted rural views from here are magnificent all year round and the clear night skies are ideal for star-gazing.
Take a stroll along country lanes to the nearby river to cool off beside the calm waters of an ancient deer crossing or follow the path down stream to the weir which attracts many trout fishermen. The more energetic can follow the marked cycle or rambling trails into the forest opposite or join a pony trek. Alternatively, hire canoes at the neighbouring village of La Prenessaye and explore further down river, breaking for lunch at one of the local auberges or creperies.
Plessala, our nearest small town 5km away has a bar-cafe, an excellent bakers and a supermarket with good butchers counter. On thursday mornings there is also a small market in the church square with fresh fish and fruit & vegetable stalls. On the edge of town is a large park with a lake where trout fishing is available.
The area is equally appealing to anyone who enjoys meandering around small medieval towns - don't miss nearby Moncontour, which is just minutes away and is amazing; the Fete des Ramparts shared bi-annually with Dinan is a must. For those who enjoy browsing the many local markets there's plenty of fresh produce to discover - goats cheeses, honey, shellfish, pork, freshly picked vegetables and cider are piled high beside art and craft or brocante stalls.
At just over an hours drive from St Malo ferry port and Rennes airport, Plessala is an easy to reach destination in central Cotes d'Armor; La Petite Longere provides a great touring base for this beautiful region where medieval market towns, castles, forests, lakes as well as stunning beaches, fashionable marinas and several golf courses provide attractions for many tastes.
Our home in Brittany is next door to La Petite Longere, there are separate front doors and private outdoor spaces, meaning we are on-hand to answer questions or give assistance if required, but we take care not intrude on our guests.
We are completely flexible about change-over days in all seasons, for longer stays we offer 10% discount off 2nd & 3rd weeks booked, and are happy to accept 4, 5 & 6 night breaks out of peak summer season. In 2024 La Petite Longere is available for rent from mid February until mid November.
Please note this gite insured for adults only, we cannot accept bookings including any children or any pets; the first floor of the property is not in use during gite rentals.
