The Farm House is one of four gites which comprise Kervegan Bihan, a former farm, which has been tastefully converted into holiday accommodation set in 1.2 acres of restful Brittany countryside surrounded by farmland and small woods.The four gites, the former Farm House (218367), adjoining Farm Cottage (218364), a detached former Stables (218365) and Coach House (218366), parts of which are reputed to date back to the 15th century.
The Farm House comfortably accommodates up to seven in a double (en siute), twin and single bedrooms. All bedrooms have "Velux" type opening windows. Also on the first floor is a shower room and toilet, plus an en suite bathroom. Stair gates are provided at the foot and top of the stairs. The ground floor is open plan with a dining area, comfortable loung chairs, TV and DVD.. There is a large open fireplace should there be a cilly evening (log available at small additional cost). Outside is a lawned area, BBQ and patio furniture.
The gites are grouped around a central courtyard and lawned area and have been tastefully renovated to retain many of their original features including exposed granite walls, beamed ceilings,and huge stone fireplaces. Lounges in the Farm Cottage, Coach House and Stables are fitted with log burning stoves; the Farm House has a large open fireplace. All lounges have comfortable easy chairs and sofas, satellite TV (receives all UK terestial and non subscription channels), DVD player, a selection of board games and books.
Kitchens in all gites were recently refitted with four-burner gas hobs,electric fan ovens, extractor hoods,dishwashers, fridge/freezers, micro-wave ovens, electric kettles, coffee making machines and toasters and ample cutlery for all guests,.Cooking utensils and crockery is also provided.
The ground floors in all gites are " open plan" designed to help ensure mums are not separated from the rest of the family when preparing meals.
There is a shared laundry room equipped with two automatic washing machines and a tumble drier (small charge). Included is bottom sheet, duvet cover (single or double), pillow cases, hand and bath towels for each guest, bath mat, kitchen and tea towels, and oven glove. Pool and beach towels are not included.
In the grounds is a 10 metre, covered, heated swimming pool with a lockable access door to help ensure the safety of younger guests. The pool has Roman steps and a depth ranging from 1.35 to 1.65 metres, deep enough for adults to swim and shallow enough for the supervision and playing with younger guests. The pool is heated between May and early September and provides a pleasant warm environment should the outside temperature be cooler than guests would ideally like. There is also a Boules pitch, netball post and surrounding paved area, and a swing, slide and rocker for small children.
Each gite also has its own lawned area with patio furniture, parasol, and BBQ.
There is ample car parking space for all guests on site which is well away from children's play areas.
Kervegan Bihan is just over a mile from the small town of Plouaret . The sandy beaches of St. Efflam and St, Michel-en-Greve are about a 15 minute drive. The Rose Granit coast with its stunning rock formations, fascinating walks and superb restaurants are all within a 30/35 drive. Also within easy travelling distance are other attractions including adventure parks, zoo, steam train rides, aquariums, horsing riding,golf, a Chateau and local markets offering sea food,french bread, cheeses and local produce.
There are seafood restaurants in coastal towns as well as more general restaurants.
Paris, Rennes and Brest are easily reached, by train from Plouaret.
