Maxwelton offers a high standard of spacious self catering accommodation, combined with breathtaking sea views, Maxwelton is the perfect peaceful retreat to relax, unwind and explore the stunning Exmoor coastline and countryside by car, bicycle, horse, landrover safari, or on foot. The South West Coast Path and Coleridge Way are all on our doorstep.For those wanting to get away from it all our large south facing garden with sheltered patio and sun terrace captures the sun from dawn through to dusk and is a haven of peace and tranquility where one can quietly sit and listen to birdsong whilst the sun goes down. After dark enjoy the star filled skies whilst listening to the owls. It is no surprise the Exmoor is recognised as a dark sky reserve.
Maxwelton is situated in a peaceful location in Porlock but is only a couple of minutes walk from the historic Ship Inn and Porlock village centre.
Maxwelton sleeps 1- 6 guests plus travel cot if required. Bracken, which on the ground floor of the property, is also available where families and friends who require an additional 4th bedroom, perfect for a generation vacation, with either grandparents or teenagers having their own space in the ground floor apartment with interlinking door being unlocked to open the whole house into one large holiday home is listed as Exmoor Holidays
Many rooms enjoy spectacular sea views, while other standout features include a dog friendly secure private
garden with patio and barbecue, a log-burning stove, and a piano, all of which add warmth and character to the home.
Built into the hillside, the main living accommodation is located on the first floor, taking full advantage of the outstanding coastal views. There are 3 w.c's within the property and 1 bath with over the bath shower.
Outdoor space includes a private, enclosed garden to the rear with patio and barbecue
Maxwelton welcomes up to 2 well behaved dogs.

The picturesque friendly village of Porlock is ideally situated for exploring Exmoor National Park and there are numerous beautiful walks from our doorstep inc South West Coastal Path (Salt Path) and Coleridge Way. Lots of activities available nearby inc tennis courts, kyaking, mountain biking, horse riding and fishing. There are regular events taking place in the village throughout the year inc village fete, Xmas fair, Santa Festival, wassailing, duck race and horse show.

Very spacious, very very clean, very well equipped in every room, fabulous position and views, beds very comfortable, good quality bedding and towels, lounge furniture also very comfortable and enough for everyone, lots of games, books and dvds. One minute walk to village, pubs, shops and places to eat. A mile or so to the sea. Highly recommend and would definitely return. Thank you Jacquie and house keepers doing a fab job. Exceptional
By Neil on 18-Jul-2024Lovely well equipped house. Beautiful view, great garden and outside space. Extremely dog friendly. Well placed for walks through the village and surrounding countryside including the Coleridge way. Pub less than a minute away with great menu. Good communication and advice on the area from the owner. Faultless.
We had a lovely time and very much enjoyed this area for walking etc.

By Sarah on 22-Oct-2025Really spacious with everything you need. Loved all the little touches (milk in the fridge, plentiful team and coffee, welcome brownies). Kids loved the piano and the large dining table was great for playing family games. Short drive to Dunster Castle which was lovely.
