WHY WE LOVE THE APARTMENT
Portrush is my home town, I grew up in the hotel industry and moved to Ulster University as a Senior Lecturer in Hospitality and Tourism. However, I have always maintained links to the Giant's Causeway Coastline. So this is one of our lovely holiday homes.
We also love the stunning panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean of the Royal Portrush Golf Course, the White Rocks Beach, the Giant’s Causeway and the Skerrie Islands coupled with the open airy spaciousness are what made us fall in love with this apartment,
STRANGE FAMILY HISTORICAL LINK
When we first looked at the old apartment in Lansdown Manor in 2019 on Lansdowne Crescent and saw the rear entrance I had a frizzante of Déjà vu. The doorway was the one I used to come through with my father Jack into Tower House to waken the staff for breakfast service at Fawcett’s Royal Hotel in the 1950s.This was was shared access to Tower House and Lansdowne Manor, something I was not aware of until two years later.
I presented a talk on Jack and Elsie’s business life and was asked if I could share some of the scans of 1930’s brochures. It was only then that I noticed that in 1936 Tower House and Lansdowne Manor made up Fawcett’s Lansdowne Hotel. We had been living in the very rooms owned and occupied by Grandpa Sam way back in the 1930s. Now that is weird and spooky.

Leave ReviewHome from home
By Samantha Rickenstow on 14-Sep-2025Hi Lyn, Sure happy to give you my review. This is my home from home. I try to get up to Portmagic once each season and stay in your marvellous apartment. We just love the views of the wild sea crashing on the shore or the Sun splitting the beach depending on when we’re up . Everything is so close by it’s an easy walk to the restaurants and to the beaches. Your apartment is really five star luxury with amazing decor and everything is so very comfortable. We love the giant king bed as no matter how much him indoors tosses and turns I do not feel a thing and get my best nights sleep. The kids love having their own living area with TV for games and movies, such a great idea. We love the open plan layout with the really well equipped Kitchen but also the closeness to so many lovely restaurants, The addition of the new deck is perfect for chilling over a pre dinner drink or soaking up the sun. Can we reserve the weekend of 10-13 October please, we are trying to get a weekend away from the kids. Best wishes Samantha
The apartment surpassed our expectations
By Elsie & Roger Gherson, Pert.h on 21-Jul-2025Hi Lynn Thanks for your phone call. Yes we did have a great holiday this summer with you in Portrush. It was our first time in Ireland and your help and advice was invaluable. Your ideas for dining out and for day trips all worked out really well. The apartment surpassed our expectations, I know the photos make it look great but it is more stunning in reality. Your said your wife remodelled the apartment and designed all the decor. Well WOW she really is an expert. It is all so beautiful and it all works so well. The second sitting room worked out great as the guys wanted to watch some sport and us girls just wanted the quiet to enjoy the views over our GnT. Best wishes and thanks again for making this a holiday to remember. We will be back. Elsie May Gherson
