Description
Fancy a break in the heart of rural Charente? Staying on an old farmstead, surrounded by nothing but farms, fields, vines and trees. In a sleepy commune of only 100 residents, a peaceful and tranquil holiday is assured.We have three lovely bedrooms available to rent.
Please note: The estimated price shown on Simply Owners is for a booking for all THREE ROOMS and includes Tourist Tax for six adults. Prices will be lower for one or two rooms and the amount of tax will reduce accordingly.
Book Les Chagnasses for two adults, and you will be staying in The Stables Gîte. You will be our only guests, enjoying exclusive use of all the amenities. No sharing!
The Stables is a spacious two room Gîte with everything you need for the perfect holiday. Your kitchen area is fully equipped with a cooker, hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. Your lounge area has a large Chesterfield sofa, Smart TV, breakfast bar, dining table and pellet burner. Your bedroom has a king size four poster bed, wardrobe and drawers, and silent fan. There's also an ensuite shower room with washing machine, WC and towel dryer.
You have a private swimming pool, with summer lounge, terrace and lawns. We encourage you to use the lounge as an extension of your Gîte. There’s another comfy sofa, picnic table, fridge freezer, microwave, coffee machine, Internet radio/CD player, books, jigsaws and board games. Take your lunch and your towels, and enjoy a day by the pool.
You also have a Games Room with table tennis, darts, boules and cornhole.
Next door you have Le Rodin, your self-serve bar area with indoor and outdoor seating, private BBQ, firepit and Adirondack chairs.
You also have your own private gardens, fields and woodland with a great choice of picnic tables and benches.
Book Les Chagnasses for four adults, and the second couple will be staying in The Pigeonnier Gîte. The four of you will have exclusive use of all the amenities. You'll only be sharing with those you invite
The Pigeonnier is a self-contained, all-in-one holiday home. You have a large living area with king size four poster bed, wardrobes and drawers, comfy Chesterfield sofa, Smart TV, dining table and pellet burner. You have a separate kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee machine and small hob. Next door you have a shower room with washing machine, WC and towel dryer.
Book Les Chagnasses for six adults, and the third couple will be staying in The Spare Room. And again, you will only be sharing with those you have invited.
The Spare Room has a four poster king size bed, breakfast bar with coffee machine, wardrobe and drawers. There's also a separate shower room with WC. There are no kitchen facilities but you do have access to a fridge freezer and microwave in the poolside lounge.
Whether there’s just the two of you, or you wish to invite friends or family, Les Chagnasses is a wonderful place to relax, unwind and reconnect with nature.
Your hosts, Mike & Claire, live in the old farmhouse. We're close by if you need us, always happy to help, but the host and guest areas have been carefully divided, and you may well feel that you are completely on your own!

Meditational mornings and afternoon swims – We played all the games, without caring who wins. Cedars and Poplar, Chestnuts and Oak With wildlife a plenty for us kind of folk Hummingbird moths, butterflies, bees, Red Squirrels and Nuthatch adorning the trees. Wall lizards (or gecko) that watch you go by Then scurry away if you give them the eye! Beautiful sunsets from the deck in the west Mike and Claire, as our hosts you’re simply the best! Thanks for the thoughts that you give for our stay And sincerely we hope to be back here one day. Les Chagnasses! Les Chagnasses! How delightful you are for letting time pass.

Mike & Claire are amazing hosts - we hardly knew they were here at all - but if we needed anything, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much - see you again soon!
A wonderful two weeks
By Wallace on 21-Jul-2025Our family of three spent a wonderful two weeks at Les Chagnasses in July 2025. The complex is a series of old buildings converted and fitted out to a high standard, whilst retaining the charm of exposed stone walls and wooden beams. Mike and Claire are wonderful and discrete hosts and have thought of everything you could possibly need for a great holiday, including the provision of duplicates of certain items such as fridge freezers. As the accommodation is in different buildings, everyone gets their own space and in addition there is the “pool lounge” and the cinema/games room/bar area. We mainly spent our time around the pool (overlooking rolling countryside) and had lunch/dinner in the pool lounge and sometimes at the picnic table next to the BBQ. When we needed to retreat from the sun we took advantage of the many board games and other activities available. In the evening, we played table tennis or darts and watched Netflix on the massive cinema screen. In addition to the generous seating around the pool there is the forest walk and hideaway, and the sunset viewing area with more seating. If you are looking for high quality accommodation in the French countryside, we can highly recommend Les Chagnasses. Our only regret is that we didn’t book a three week stay!
Vacation in style

It is a really peaceful place and everything was clean, taken good care off and there is so much to do. The eye for detail that the owners have is absolutely amazing and lifts the experience up even more. We can only recommend it! Thank you for the peace and help.
