Overview
Description
Le Puits (The Well) is a traditional spacious 200 year old stone built farmhouse set in 2 acres of its own land on a quiet hillside. Private 8x4m heated swimming pool, patio and BBQ. Original features with exposed beams, stone walls and 2 built-in wood burning stoves provide plenty of character. Fully equipped and comfortably furnished. Free fibre WiFi, UK satellite Smart TV, central heating. Child friendly from school age. Plenty of private parking. When booking Le Puits the holiday maker enjoys exclusive use of the whole house, pool, gardens, everything - your own bit of France for a week or two. We have tried to ensure that everything is catered for, like a home from home, not just another holiday let. We continually strive to make staying at Le Puits as comfortable as possible, constantly maintaining, renewing and planting. The pool is maintained on a weekly basis by our local French caretaker and his colleagues, who are simply a phone call away should you require any assistance at all.
Excellently located for the many attractions of the region, including Riberac's famous Friday market, canoe/kayak centres, wine tasting and beautiful chateaus. Le Puits is situated by a quiet local road up a hill and remote from the bustling market town of Riberac. The views from Le Puits are across the Dronne Valley to the picturesque village of Villetoureux. The town is only a 3 minute drive or 15 minutes walk for those essentials or simply to grab a coffee and watch the world go by.
We absolutely love Le Puits. Everything about it is just right, we wouldn't change anything. The location is perfect, its a short 15 minute walk to the centre of town with every amenity you could want, but, at the same time, back at Le Puits it's as if the town is not even there, just Le Puits with an ambience all of its own.
Please feel free to call or email me at any time if you would like to chat about Le Puits, we promise to answer your questions as honestly and openly as possible.

Leave ReviewLe Puits
By Robert Thompson on 28-Jun-2025Another wonderful stay in the lovely Le Puits. A rustic, cosy, private dwelling in the picturesque Dordogne area of Central France. We have visited here a number of times, which the reader of this review will understand confirms it’s suitability to our desires.
Fantastic Holiday
By Michaela Heaton on 01-Aug-2025We had a fantastic stay! The house is beautiful, very private and has lovely views. Communication with the owners was excellent from start to finish, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. The facilities were spotless, and the kitchen was very well equipped. There were plenty of thoughtful touches too - puzzles, games, DVDs, a smart TV, and fast WiFi, so it really felt like a home away from home. The swimming pool was a real highlight, it’s heated and surrounded by plenty of sun loungers, very private and peaceful. The children loved the inflatables! The local area has so much to offer, with lots of pretty places to explore nearby. We especially loved canoeing around Brantôme and visiting the Friday market. We all enjoyed a day out at the lakes at La Jemaye and Aubeterre. The children had a fantastic time playing on the beach and swimming in the fresh water. Overall, it was a wonderful holiday, and we are already planning our next visit!
Everything you could want from a holiday
By Claire on 21-Aug-2024The photos just don't do Le Puits justice - downstairs in the house is super spacious - huge dining table, big fridge freezer, dishwasher (yay!), enormous lounge. Two twin bedrooms upstairs with plenty of space and powerful fans (handy when it's been 30⁰ all day outside!) Pool is fab - plenty of inflatables, loungers and parasols. Gets the sun during the day but more shade in the evening, so great for those of us who struggle in blazing sunshine. Plenty to do in the region - Friday market, canoeing on the Dronne a couple of miles away (very reasonably priced), Angoulême & Périgueux about a half an hour drive away, with the Bordeaux vineyards (St Emilion) only a 45 min drive too. Everything you might need in the small town of Ribérac which is only down the road, including a large Leclerc supermarket with a fantastic butchery and cheese deli counter. The owners have provided everything you could need, allowing for a completely stress-free holiday (and plenty of games, puzzles and DVDs, as well as a flatscreen TV if the weather isn't pool-friendly). A quality BBQ, and patio furniture under vines meant relaxed evenings making the most of the late evening sumshine. We absolutely loved our time at Le Puits and understand why the owners wouldn't change a thing - neither would we!
An amazing stay
By Chris F on 10-Aug-2024We have recently spent 10 days at this property and it was more than we expected. The location was peaceful and private while the views were stunning. The house itself had everything we needed and more and it was spotless. We have two boys and they loved the pool and enjoyed visiting the cow at the back of the property each day. Dee was on hand if there were any issues and we couldn't have wished for a better stay. The village isn't too far and a decent supermarket close too so we felt well connected whilst still feeling away from it all. We fell head over heels for this place. It's a special one.
Lovely relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings
By Kim Morgan on 20-Jul-2024I had a lovely relaxing stay in beautiful farmhouse. The house was very spacious and the gardens lovely to look out on. All very well maintained. Very peaceful setting and the heated pool was a delight to cool off in. Walked into town for great Friday market & local produce. Will defiantly return.
A private farmhouse in the Hills outside Riberac.
By Bob & Jillian Thompson on 08-Jun-2024Having been regular guests at this charming farmhouse we cannot speak highly enough of both the property and the location. Situated in the outskirts of Riberac, a typical French farming town, with easy access to all the practical and tourist facilities. The property is like a ‘home from home’ with all the practical conveniences required to enhance your stay. Have already booked to return, looking forward to it!
