Leave ReviewThank you for a truly amazing stay !!
By Hubbard Family on 16-Aug-2025Sat 9th August to Sat 16th August 25 Thank you for a truly amazing stay !! The house is so well equipped, literally everything we needed right at our fingertips. The weather was glorious … hot hot hot !!!! It even reached 44 degrees on one day ! The pool was an absolute lifesaver in the heat; great size, loads of fun and perfect for cooling off. We visited Rocamadour which was breath taking and well worth the visit. A thunder storm over the hills whilst we ate dinner outside was spectacular to watch. The little crystal shop in Souillac was a hidden gem. This stay gave us exactly what we needed; we completly switched off, relaxed, spent quality fun time as a family and unwound. We spent our evenings star gazing, spotting many shooting stars, ate delicious meals, laughed and loved every minute !! Thank you !!! The Hubbard family XX
We’ve had such a wonderful week. Thank you.
By The Noyce Family on 02-Aug-202526th July 2025 to 2nd August 2025 We’ve had such a wonderful week. Thank you. House so easy to settle into and marvellously equipped with everything one might need. We have had so much fun in the pool, the very best start and end to a day, and for the younger members of the family the best bit of most of the day ! The Proxi store in Payrac & Boulangerie had everything we needed, and happening upon an artisan cheesemaker while out walking was a real treat. Our reccomendationas for days out are, Domme- very beautiful + great icecream ! A visit to some of the caves locally - We visited Grottes de Lacave on a grey morning, and most of all Kayaking on the Dordogne river, such a fab way to see the sights at a gentle pace - take a picnic and go for the day. Seems to be lots going on in Cales, and following some music on Wednesday evening we found ourselves enjoying wine and cakes in the village with live jazz - just wonderful. We are all wishing we could stay longer and hope to be back. Many thanks The Noyce family.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us.
By Derek Miller on 19-Jul-2025Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us. We have had a wonderful two weeks here and wish we were staying for another two !! We have been so impressed with how well equipped Cales Retreat is, it’s a real “home from home”. The swimming pool is amazing and has been a godsend as the weather has been beautiful but very hot ! Particularly liked the visits from the deer, mum & babe - so sweet. This area is really beautiful, there are so many places to visit - but not enough time, hopefully we’ll get to come again in future to see more. Rocamadour was absolutely stunning and we also loved Carrenac and Loubressac such pretty villages, stunning scenery and well worth a visit. Sarlat on market day was very lively and colourful too. Thank you again Marc, very best wishes. Iam & Derek
Sun Pool and Bambi
By Karen Kelly on 07-Jun-2025The house and pool was all as advertised, The weather in June got up to 34 degrees. The pool offered a welcome place to cool down after a day visiting the local sites like Rocamadour, forest de Singes and the local grotes. A visit to Cahors is recommended we would advise to take the local tour train as it takes you through the historic parts of the town that you wouldn’t necessarily realise was there if you just drove through. Marc the owner was brilliant throughout, giving us comprehensive directions on finding the house to advice on local places eat, shop and generally enjoy. He was quick to reply to emails even when we had to ask a question during our stay. The house itself offers you a very well equipped home from home, offering everything you would need should you be looking to just chill and enjoy the views. We were lucky enough to have a deer call into the garden most nights even when sitting out enjoying our Camembert and wine. A Truly wonderful holiday, we never wanted to leave.
WOW!!
By Janet and Rob on 21-Jun-2025This is a modern, very well appointed, and well presented, property. Marc, the owner, has thoughtfully considered holiday-makers' needs, and everything is provided. The pool is a very good size, and there are numerous inflatables and pool noodles in the integral garage. It is in an extremely private location in the pretty village of Calès and virtually the only noise we heard during our 2 week stay was bells (not at all loud) from the village church. There is one near neighbour. TV reception is excellent with Netflix, Prime Video, and Sky available. Loved the big American fridge with an ice maker! Also, we had good communication with Marc who was only too happy to help. Would highly recommend, and hope to return!
We had a wonderful stay
By Jan & Rob on 05-Jul-2025Jan & Rob, Kent, UK 22 June to 5 July 2025 We had a wonderful stay here, helped by glorious weather. If anything, it was too hot (peak was 39 degrees), so the pool was a godsend! The house is in a lovely setting, well laid out, and very well equipped. There are plenty of places to visit, most within an hour's drive. Would recommend the boat trip in La Roque-Gageac, train ride in Martel and Le Petit Train in Cahors. We particularly liked Eyrignac Manor Jardins which has wonderful topiary displays. Also, a visit to the Restaurant/Hotel Le Petit Relais in Calès, a short walk from the house, is recommended. The food is delicious, and the female owner is very welcoming and speaks some English, which is always a bonus. To summarise, we have loved our stay here, and can't wait to return. Marc is on hand to deal with any issues, even a trivial one we had concerning clothes pegs!
