Description
Le MaroutalThe house is in a rural setting on a gentle hillside with wonderful view in the heart of the Périgord Noir. It is very near to all the Dordogne attractions such as pre-historic cave paintings, ancient chateaux and the wonderful medieval market town of Sarlat, and superb restaurants.
The house is in a beautiful valley with no passing traffic except that accessing the house at the end of the lane. There are activities to suit all age ranges and interests from swimming, walking, canoeing, shopping, and visiting historic caves, towns and chateaux.
There are many rural walks starting from the front door of our house. We are a short drive (or a cycle ride) to the historic Dordogne river and the Vezère river, both offering canoeing, swimming and riverside walks.
We are about 5 km to our local town, St Cyprien where you can find cafés, patisseries, shops, restaurants and a supermarket (with fast chargers for electric cars). Market day is on Sundays. There are many interesting caves to visit very near us (within 15 mins drive) and the famous cave paintings at Lascaux are 40 mins drive away. The medieval town of Sarlat is 25 mins by car. Chateau de Beynac, Chateau de Castelnaud, Chateau des Milandes and les Jardins de Marqueyssac are all only about 20 mins drive from our house.
There are many good restaurants from simple meals to traditional food to Michelin stars from 5 mins drive to half an hour. If you fancy a wine tasting - Bergerac is not too far about 1 hour drive to Pecharmont and Chateau de Monbazillac .
The house is in an L shape with a tower in the middle. On the ground floor there is a kitchen (induction and gas hob, dishwasher), dining room, salon with log fire, hall with lavatory, games room and utility room. On the first floor there are 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The master bedroom with superking size bed has it's own ensuite. The second bedroom is a large bedroom with King size bed and ensuite which it shares with the third bedroom in the tower, a small room with standard double bed. The 4th and 5th bedrooms each have twin beds, both with direct access to another bathroom.
A private 5x10 metre heated swimming pool with Roman steps is at your disposal. Swimming pool is heated from the beginning of May to the end of September. There are some swimming pools toys and floaters in the games room. Our games room has various board games and a table tennis table. The utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a second refrigerator. Our well equipped kitchen has dishwasher, blender, handheld electric mixer ...etc. There is an internet-enabled television and DVD player. High-speed internet via fibre is supplied.
Check in at 4pm onwards, we have a lockbox where you can find the house keys to let yourself in. Check out is at 10am.
A month before your holiday date, we will send you an information pack about the house including directions.
Outside the peak season (mid-June to mid-September) we can be flexible about lettings. We can offer a reduced price for shorter lettings (minimum 4 nights) or for small groups of people and check-in can be on days other than Saturday, but please phone or write to us with your requirements and we will try to accommodate them.
To secure the booking, you will need to send a deposit of 50% of the cost of rental, we will then send you a confirmation of the booking. The balance will need to be paid 12 weeks before your holiday date. One week before the holiday date, the refundable security of 1000 euros is due. This will be returned within one week after your departure, once the cleaner has confirmed the absence of breakages, damage or missing items.
If you book the property within 12 weeks before your holiday date you will need to pay the full sum of rental to secure the booking.
In case of cancellation, cancellation of 5 months or more before the first day of your holiday date - you will receive the full refund. If cancel in between 5 - 3 months before the first day of your holiday date you will not get the refund of the deposit unless we can re-let the property of that period. If you cancel after you have paid the balance of the rental (12 weeks before your holiday date) you will not get any refund unless we can re-let the property for your booking period, in which case we will refund 90% of the rental you have paid.

The house provided absolutely everything we needed, with comfortable bedrooms and plenty of living space. We thoroughly enjoyed both the heated pool and the games room, and the table tennis table was the scene of fierce competition throughout our stay! It’s a perfect location for visiting the many attractions of the Dordogne and the Lot, and we will definitely book again for our next visit. Thank you Nitya!
